And we spotted the ‘new but old’ Orange Wine on the wine menu’s and we also found a slushie with wine! We made a list with different new and old wines you will most likely see on the terraces this summer. From the wine and fruit slushie you could make your own signature slushie! And we spotted a wine product that, we think, would do great in a bathroom of a hotel in a wine region!

Together they organise a special wine tasting in restaurant Soigné on Wednesday the 29th and Thursday the 30th of June. On these days the restaurant will serve its new 4-course menu Soigné for the first time, at the same time they let their guests decide which wines will be on the wine pairing menu! read more
Our colleague Guido Verschoor spotted chocolate shop ‘Pierre Ledent’. Pierre Ledent is a multi award winning Belgian Master Chocolatier. His praline and almond biscuit creations are available in multiple locations around the world. His store located in Brussels has a luxurious look. The range consist of many variants of pralines and almond biscuits. The shop and the salon have a very luxurious look. In the salon you can enjoy desserts, verrines, ice creams and drinks. The dishes served look amazing! The almond biscuits are available in special varieties, like mojito, balsamic vinegar, olive and violet. The website is a source of inspiration and when we go to Brussels, we will definitely visit this shop!

There’s a burger out there made with dry-aged ribeye, foie gras and entire chunks of butter. Then it’s topped with black truffles, truffle cheese and bordelaise. It’s a spectacular burger. No more waiting for two hours until your laundry is finished in an boring launderette… Two young advertisers Dries Henau and Yuri Vandenbogaerde launched the new concept the ‘Wasbar’ in Gent last October. The concept is simple, the ‘Wasbar’ is a combination of a launderette and a pub. While you have to wait for your laundry, you can drink something, eat breakfast or lunch, browse on the web, meet friends or even have your hair cut. On some evenings you can eat tapas and concerts are organized. What started on a small scale, turned into a great success. They soon will soon open a second location of the concept in Antwerp and a third in Leuven. There is also a request to franchise.. Look also at the launderette in Amsterdam.

Dining at a 13 Michelin-starred restaurant…? Last Sunday April 28th Harrods organized an exclusive lunch in ‘The Georgian Restaurant’ prepared by the seven sough-after Michelin-starred Italian chefs. Carlo Cracco, Gennaro Esposito, Massimo Bottura, Enrico and Roberto Cerea, Davide Scabin and Luciano Monosilio cooked each a creative contemporary Italian dish for the seven-course ‘Identità London 2013’ menu. The sum of these chefs brings a total of 13 Michelin stars.

Budweiser introduces the new beer glass ‘Buddy Cup’ with a chip that picks the signal of the nearest ‘Buddy Cup’. To connect the cup with a Facebook account, you need to scan the QR code at the bottom of the cup with a smartphone. When you toast, the red light will turn on and the toast is confirmed with a friend request on Facebook.

Domino’s started a funny Mothers day promotion. The pizza chain gives away 50 free pizza cards with a personal audio message, including your mother’s favorite pizza. Through Facebook you can record a message and the 50 most original messages will be delivered on Mothers day with her favorite pizza.
Last month the Dutch supermarket chain Jumbo opened the largest supermarket of the Netherlands in Breda. ‘Love for food’ is the main theme of the supermarket. Besides the biggest assortment of the Netherlands, Jumbo Foodmarkt focuses on tasty, healthy and inexpensive food. At the Foodmarkt café consumers can consume a cup of coffee or a fresh meal. Every day there are cooks who prepare the most delicious dishes inspired by the Dutch, Italian and Asian cuisine. These dishes can be consumed in the café or taken home. A totally new development within the retail market.
Rotterdam becomes more green… The municipality of Rotterdam encourages urban farming and more and more urban farms sprout across the city. Inhabitants of several neighbourhoods have set up their own vegetable garden. A part of the production of the vegetable gardens is served in the neighbourhood restaurant ‘Hotspot Hutspot’. This restaurant serves three-course week menu’s for 7 euros with as many ingredients from the garden and other local produce. The menu is prepared with the help of children from the neighbourhood.

The Conservatorium Hotel in Amsterdam serves a classic Afternoon Tea as a tribute to the reopening of the Rijksmuseum. The appetizers are inspired by the portraits and art works by artists from the 17th century. The menu consists entirely of pure traditional Dutch dishes like beef sausage burger with pickles, herring on rye bread and different types of croquettes.

The Californian wine brand ‘Barefoot’ introduces refreshing cocktail recipes for the summer, like the ‘Down the Aisle’, a cocktails made of the White Zinfandel Rose. The cocktail is refreshing and is a mix of pears, pineapple and strawberries flavor. The ‘Beachcomber’ cocktail is made of Pinot Grigio, a cocktail with fresh lime, green apple, pineapple and coconut milk flavor. These fresh cocktail recipes will get you in the mood for the summer… There is also a online contest where people can suggest cocktail recipes based on Barefoot wines, the winner will get a cash prize.
HP has announced a new project in collaboration with the world-renowned designer Karim Rashid for the nhow bar in Milan. He will use the HP Latex Printing machine to bring his interior designs to life. The result is a completely new bar area comprising eight tables that boast vibrant full-colour graphics printed by the HP Printer, as well as two large-size mirrors that is printed on self-adhesive transparent film. Karim Rashid worked with the HP printer, because the redecoration of the bar needs to be done quickly because. Owners of restaurants can easily redesign their bar by buying for example ‘cheap’ tables and redecorate them with self-adhesive prints.
‘Prachtig’ in Rotterdam has been upgraded from grand café to bar-restaurant. The interior, the menu and even the view are renewed. They have chosen for a contemporary interior with an industrial look. The restaurant is characterized by the wall of raw bricks and the use of natural and raw materials. There is a self-designed cabinet where Italian hams and sausages from Italy hang to dry. The menu has a touch of Italy, during the summer ‘Prachtig’ will organize the City Barbecues.
Cornetto has launched a funny campaign: the Cornetto Lick Challenge. If you’ve got a talented tongue, you should probably join to the new Cornetto Lick Challenge, where you can compete for tongue supremacy amongst your friends. Your tongue gets different challenges like weightlifting, bowling and taekwondo. Participants battle with Nick Afanasiev (the longest tongue of 8,9cm) in order to win the challenge.
The first edition of the cooking competition ‘Region Chef’ will take place on 28 September in Amersfoort. During this competition amateur chefs cook with locale produce. By promoting locale produce the organization wants to reduce the ecological footprint of the food consumption. The goal is to make consumers more aware of it and to show them in which season the products will have the best flavors.
