Happy Drinks The Battle 2017 | Contest to broaden the alcohol free offerings in the hospitality industry

11-1-2017

With Happy Drinks The Battle 2017 Pierre Wind and the Trimbos Institute want to challenge the business schools for restaurant, catering and hospitality education to make alcohol-free drinks in bars and restaurants more exciting and diverse. Anyone can join The Battle: from the professional bartenders to home shakers who like to invent their own drinks. But Happy Drinks The Battle 2017 is perhaps most interesting for the business schools for restaurant, catering and hospitality education. The winner will earn the title Happy Drinks Master Shaker 2017, gets € 500,= in vouchers of bol.com and the winning recipe will be squeezed by Pinky Rose in a special edition handmade syrup.

Happy Drinks The Battle 2017

Why this game? Everyone knows that nowadays the alcohol problem among young people and in the nightlife is big. The only one who can solve this problem, are ultimately the drinkers themselves. But the initiators of this battle want to reach out to these drinkers. Because if it’s possible to make a more adventurous choice in alcohol-free beverages available during their nigths out eithr in the nightlife or at (school) parties, it might become a lot easier to go wild without a hangover.

Pierre Wind and the Trimbos Institute have therefore started Happy Drinks in 2011. Their motto; It’s not fresh, it’s not alcohol, it’s alcohol-free with a kick. Alcohol-free can be much more exciting and can entice more consumers. Work needs to be done to change the image of alcohol-free from a childish drink to a ‘mature’ and serious alternative to alcoholic beverages. Happy Drinks regularly present alcohol-free cocktails  during major events, for example during the Olympic Games in 2012.

How awesome if one of the student of your business school for restaurant, catering and hospitality educations wins this battle?

Register at www.happydrinksbattle.nl. Of course, the competition is also open to students of the catering education. Teachers can download www.happydrinksbattle.nl posters and flyers to enthuse their students. There’s also a teacher’s guide to create a lesson around the theme and this battle.
