Salina Turda | From old saltmine into amusement park

Last month we wrote about the newest and biggest indoor park in the world which opened on the 31st of August in Dubai. Nowadays we have so many developments, it could happen that ‘elderly’ amusements park are overlooked. Recently we came up with Salina Turda, an amusements park opened in 1992 located in a historical salt mine in Romania. One of the oldest saltmines in the world includes a small amphitheatre, bowling courts, boats and even a ferris-wheel.
World’s largest indoor theme park opens in Dubai

The world’s largest indoor theme park opens its doors at the end of August in Dubai: IMG Worlds Of Adventure. The completely indoor park consists of 28 football fields, with 17 rollercoasters, a cinema and live shows.
The world’s largest hammock in Scheveningen

Cool initiative on the hottest day of the year in the Netherlands: record attempt for the world’s largest hammock. Today at 12 am the hammock is open for public at the Indigo Beach Club at the Zwarte Pad in Scheveningen. The current world record is a hammock of 20 meters in the U.S.A. The hammock in Scheveningen is going to be 22 meters long and 10 meters wide. Promoters and those who will relax in it: have fun!!!

Another reason to go see a movie in the cinema! Lot of chances in the last couple of years in the movie and cinema world. The public started to enjoy watching movies at home but with these developments they successfully lure the public back in the cinema! With the IMAX screens, 3D movies, virtual reality and now Barco Escape movies, the cinema offers a whole new movie experience. No ‘normal’ cinema from a single screen, with Barco Escape you will be drawn in the story. This due to two additional screens that are attached at the main screen in an angle of circa 140 degrees, a panoramic view.
Poptail = popsicle + cocktail

March last year we wrote about a new twist to the cocktail at the Sky Bar, Bangkok’s highest rooftop bar at the Lebua State Tower hotel. Poptails are premium classic cocktails paired with brain-freezing popsicles. It’s kind of maths: Poptail = popsicle + cocktail. This was the first time we spotted the poptail. Zwolle (a city in the East of the Netherlands) has gained a temporary city beach: Stränd! Late July the proverbial doors of the beach opened, located near the canal in Zwolle. For five long weekends you can ‘relax, drink, socialize, eat and above all … enjoying the summer in a Zwolsch manner’ as indicated by the initiators on the website.

Charmander, Bulbasaur or Squirtle? Which Pokémons did you catch? Pokémon GO has been launched in Japan and Australia two weeks ago and is since this weekend also available in the Netherlands. Since there are so many people who are playing the game there are a lot of companies that try to pick up the hype, also in the hospitality industry. For example the Pokébal pancake in Aalten, free drinks for those who catch a Pokémon, a Pokémon GO bus tour, a Pokémon GO Festvial and people are even spotting Pokémons during the Nijmeegse wandelvierdaagse (a 4 day walkingtour).
