With this week links to articles about amongst other the PINKTOBER campaign from Hard Rock International, this year in collaboration with chef Dominique Crenn. And a social initiative in Rotterdam, ‘Heat and Eat’.
Hôtel Plaza Athénéé has teamed up with the talented fine art photographer Gray Malin for a photo shoot with dogs, great images on ‘My Dogs from Paris’! And in San Francisco restaurant Dogue serves a tasting menu for your dog. Some dogs have so much luxury around them.
Interesting initiative in London where Head Room Café brings awareness and access to mental health support. And ghost kitchen chain Casper from Belgium recently also launched in the Dutch cities The Hague and Rotterdam.
Last week, the hotels Moxy the Hague and Residence Inn by Marriott the Hague were officially opened, located in the Muzentoren in the city center. And chef Bart De Pooter opened his plant-based restaurant WILDn at the Sapphire House Antwerp.
The last week of September New York enjoyed ‘La vie en rose’ by Maison Valentino, a great example of going ‘Pink all the way’. And OneThird developed a scanner to determine the ripeness of avocados and received a voucher from the Foundation Together Against Food Waste to test this on the shop floor.
A ‘koopstoot’ from Brewery ‘t IJ

A thousand bottles, a lot of beer, one genever. On 13 October, Brewery ‘t IJ in Amsterdam will launch its first own limited edition spirit. The kopstoot or in English heatbutt is a glass of beer with a genever and a typical Amsterdam invention. As an Amsterdam brewer, the choice to make genever (Dutch gin) alongside beer is therefore a logical one. Brewery ‘t IJ decided to distil beer and process it into genever, whose characteristic flavour is due to additions of celery and caraway seeds. A drink according to the standards of ‘t IJ: pure and smooth, with a soft spiciness that combines well with the beers of Brewery ‘t IJ.
ADE Cocktail Guide by The Entourage Group

It’s almost time for ADE again! Between 19 and 23 October, Amsterdam turns yellow and that can only mean one thing; Amsterdam Dance Event. Especially for this week, The Entourage Group’s restaurants have created an ‘ADE Cocktail Guide’ for the city and a special cocktail will be added to each menu. So those looking to get in the mood before or after a party know where to go.
Private members’ club The Cover opens in Amsterdam

Sircle Collection, a form origin Dutch hospitality group, presents private members’ club The Cover. This new private members’ club welcomes entrepreneurs, innovators and creatives from this winter on in the historic ‘Rijkskantoorgebouw voor Geld- en Telefoonbedrijf’ in Amsterdam. The former Kas Bank building already houses several well-known enterprises, such as restaurant The Duchess*, W Amsterdam and Dutch design shop X BANK. These companies will soon be joined by The Cover.
‘The Garden of Holland’ builds local healthy food chain

A healthy kitchen for everyone, that is the dream of the Green Circle ‘De Tuin van Holland’ or translated ‘The Garden of Holland’. On 29 September, 17 leading chain parties ratified their cooperation by signing a covenant. Together, chefs, farmers and doctors are developing guidelines for tasty, healthy cuisine, strongly linked to the land, inspired by the culinary history.

Sam’s Anchor Cafe raises $300k+ with inaugural Bootleggers NFTs

Sam’s Anchor Cafe – open since 1920 on the San Francisco Bay – has completed a successful launch of its first NFT (non-fungible token) collection, raising more than $300,000 with a sell-out of the limited-edition Sam’s Bootleggers NFTs. Sam’s Bootleggers NFTs, with artwork by San Francisco designer Anthony Laurino, were developed by ViciNFT. The 244-unit collection sold out entirely through presale! The NFTs are caricature images of Sam Vella, a notorious bootlegger who founded Sam’s during Prohibition.
QUB® container bistro Watt’n Blick is semi-mobile and seaworthy

‘Watt’n Blick’ is the name of the food concept of two young entrepreneurs from Norddeich, their name can be translated as ‘What a view’ and that is because their guests can enjoy a unique North Sea panorama. Because Watt’n Blick proves what seemed impossible until now: that gastronomy can be reconciled with a natural World Heritage Site and operated in a high-water area. The seaworthy and semi-mobile bistro in the QUB® container is the first on the seaward side of the dike in Germany.

The family business Privatkelterei Van Nahmen has been around since 1917 and started producing apple syrup. Since the 1930s, they started specialising in fruit juices also. Current owner Peter van Nahmen combines sustainability and tradition with innovation. Resulting, among other things, in ‘Sparkling Juicy Tea’. Three unique products have emerged from a collaboration with tea sommeliers, including Niklas Schmeink (Tea Master Gold): unique blends of cold brew tea and fruit juice. A beautiful, ecological and vegan alternative for those who have to drive everybody home or those who don’t drink alcohol!
