Miracle at Boom Chicago | Amsterdam’s most Christmassy bar

Last year Boom Chicago, brought cocktail bar Miracle to Amsterdam, however, due to COVID we could only enjoy this Christmassy bar for a short time! Now Amsterdam’s most famous comedians are preparing for the return of Miracle at Boom Chicago. The new edition opens on November 23 and it will be an even more lavish, naughty and delicious party than last year. Even more over the top Christmas decorations, thousands of lights, foul Christmas jumpers and cheesy music. The five-week seasonal party will be an exciting Christmas celebration for visitors to enjoy with deliciously shaken cocktails. During the jolly holiday season on the Rozengracht, Christmas lovers and anyone who enjoys cosiness can enjoy custom-made cocktails, including: the Christmapolitan, the Jingle Balls Nog (an exciting variation on eggnog), and the Christmas shots pair Naughty (cinnamon) and Nice (gingerbread spice). All cocktails are served in humorous and eye-catching mugs and glasses, laughter guaranteed for that reason alone. You can book in the link in the title.

Goûtea | Afternoon tea by Cédric Grolet at the Berkeley

Cédric Grolet opened the doors to his first patisserie outside of France, Cédric Grolet at The Berkeley in February 2022. This September the chef unveils ‘Goûtea’, Grolet’s fusion of goûter (the French tradition of sweet snacking) and best of British afternoon tea.  First, guests seated in the surroundings of The Berkeley Café designed by Remi Tessier, will be welcomed with an iced vanilla tea. Grolet’s cake stand – perfectly paired with tea, coffee or champagne – showcases two savoury and five sweet creations. The menu will evolve and change with the seasons but for Autumn Grolet features the chef’s iconic vanilla flower, a Paris Brest, a pistachio cookie and, for a purist English nod, a scone with cream and jam. The sweet piece de resistance is a glistening trompe-l’œil green apple which, inside, features fresh apple and dill. The savoury goodies are Grolet’s highly intricate take on avocado on toast and a trompe-l’œil burrata which reveals tomato gel and basil pesto when cut open. A mini comté cheese and bacon quiche, warm from the oven, will be bought to table mid-service to complete the savoury offering. So if you’re going to London and you want to experience a French / English Goûtea, you know where to go. Link to their website in the title.

Chocomel | ‘The one and only’, comes out with plant-based variant

From now on, Chocomel is also available in a plant-based  variant. The brand is thus meeting the growing demand for plant-based products. Chocomel Plant-based is a plant-based drink made from cashew nut and pea.

The launch of Chocomel Plant-based is a big step for the brand because of the challenge of staying true to the taste people have been used to since 1936. Chocomel therefore tested drinks based on different plant-based ingredients and submitted them to a taste panel. A base of cashew nut and pea proved to be the right formula: 97% of the taste panel indicated after tasting that the product met their high expectations. Chocomel Plant-based is now available at Picnic and from mid-October at all supermarkets. More information on the website, link in title.

Vegan concept Wild & the Moon brings slice of Paris to Amsterdam

In mid-September, popular vegan concept Wild & the Moon originally from Paris opened the doors of a second location in Amsterdam at Amsterdam’s Zuidas (Arnold Schönberglaan 9). After a successful first restaurant in ‘De Pijp’, it is now also time to conquer the green hearts of corporate Amsterdam. During an exclusive grand opening, founder Emma Sawko passionately told curious guests about her dreams and world-improving vegan food concept: ‘Wild & The Moon is slow food set to an urban beat’. We want a plant-based lifestyle to become the new norm.’

Wild & the Moon is a 100% homemade, vegan and gluten- and plastic-free concept and lifestyle, with locations in Paris, Dubai and Amsterdam.
