Coffee caviar is the latest foodie trend

Last week we wrote an article about the food trend #coffeeinacone on Instagram (which you can taste in Amsterdam at a pop-up by The Cone Masters), this week a new trend: #coffeecaviar. Although this has been made by fine dining restaurants for a couple of years, we spotted at Instagram that a larger group of foodies is creating this at home as well. We found an instruction video at youtube of #coffeecaviar at ice cream.

Drinking This Beer Helps Save Baby Tigers

Tiger Beer, owned by Heineken in Singapore, has teamed up with the World Wildlife Fund to save the tiger population. Together, Tiger Beer and the WWF have created the 3890Tigers campaign, which is a six-year campaign that focuses on the dwindling tiger population. According to USA Today, there are only 3,980 tigers left in the wild.

3890 Tigers supports the WWF’s Tx2 project, which is a coalition of the 13 countries where tigers roam free. Conservationists with both organizations hope to bring the tiger population up to 6,000 by the year 2022, which is the next time the Chinese year of the tiger rolls around. To commemorate the project — and Tiger Beer’s $1 million gift to Tx2 — the company hired six artists to create a slew of limited-edition cans, which changes up the beer’s look for the first time in 84 years. Tiger Beer drinkers can support the cause by uploading a selfie with the hashtag #3890Tigers to Twitter and even integrate some of the new can designs in their snapshots. The Null stern hotelkonzept will be open as from the 9th of June

We wrote about it in 2008, the Null Stern-Hotelkonzept. The first concept was in a former nuclear bunker in Teufen. Last year the twins, Frank and Patrick Riklin restarted the concept with an open air hotel in the Swiss mountains of the Bündnerland. Since last year they only provided a bed but in a superb surrounding!

Designer fruit: white strawberries

Designer fruits can command high prices in Asia, where they are often traded as status symbols or given as luxury gifts. Japanese white strawberries are one such fruit. A packet of these white strawberries, called the White Jewels, are sold for 40 dollar! It aren’t pineberries by the way, check out this video!

Ramadan in the hospitality industry

Entrepreneurs at the West-Kruiskade in Rotterdam decided together to do something for participants of the Ramadan. The West-Kruiskade is the only street in the Netherlands where visitors can eat and drink late in the evening. The restaurants are open before and after de Iftar. The companies who are participating in the initiative are: Mr. Beans, Ilya Rotterdam, Madera House, De IJssalon en Johnny’s Burger Company. Have you seen something special organised especially for the Ramadan, let us know!
