Last weekend Horecatrends was invited to try-out the Stravinsky city hotel in Hengelo before the opening. A hotel where you won’t have to ask the staff for your key or breakfast.

From 2008 till 2010 the Null Stern-Hotelkonzept, or in plain English the Zero Star Hotel concept, got a lot of attention worldwide. The first concept was in a former nuclear bunker in Teufen. Now the twins, Frank and Patrick Riklin restarted the concept with an open air hotel in the Swiss mountains of the Bündnerland in the Safiental. The only thing provided is a bed!
TraffickCam

An initiative from the United States: TraffickCam. This app enables you to help combat sex trafficking by uploading photos of the hotel rooms you stay in when you travel. TraffickCam asks travellers to take photos of their entire room, the bathroom, the bed and details such as carpeting and furniture. The Police Department can use the data to cross-reference against suspicious images taken by sex traffickers.

It’s almost time for the opening of the new restaurant of Hilton Rotterdam! About one and half month ago Hilton launched a contest for residents of Rotterdam to come up with the best name for the new restaurant. In the meantime, 10 names were selected and is it up to the jury to decide which name will win the contest.

This alarm clock will probably be a present from heaven for a lot of people. Imagine an alarm clock and coffee maker in one on your nightstand! The ‘Barisieur’ wakes you up with a cup of freshly made coffee. The project is on Kickstarter and has, today, only 11 days more to go. Maybe an investment for bigger hotel chains? Wouldn’t it be great to offer your guests a wakeup call with freshly made coffee?
