BrewDog experience will include a hotel

17-5-2016

The Scottisch craft-beer brewery BrewDog is set to move forward with its plans to open a craft beer-themed hotel. They will build the BrewDog hotel in the neighbourhood of their brewery, with a ‘PUNK IPA’ tap in the hotel rooms. A true BrewDog experience. Through a crowdfunding campaign which ended last week they managed to raise 19 million pounds. The money is going to be used to build the new hotel and a new brewery. They will also invest in more pubs.

Crowdfunding campaign

It was huge, the ‘Equity for Punks’ campaign from BrewDog. The campaign lasted for a year with a target of 25 million pounds at the end of the year. Within 20 weeks there was already an amount of five million donated, to end the campaign with 19 million pounds. Although the target of the campaign was not reached completely, the plans of the hotel are still going ahead. The raised money is also going to be used for more pubs in the UK as well as opening a new brewery.

BrewDog experience

The motivation behind the hotel was to provide a base for BrewDog customers wanting to visit its brewery as it lays quite far in North-East Scotland. By building a hotel nearby it is even easier for beer fans to get the BrewDog experience.

The location of the hotel is yet unknown but it is clear that the hotel needs to be built somewhere around Aberdeen. The restaurant in the hotel will be focussing on beer and food pairing. Besides that, every room will include a personal PUNK IPA tap and a visit to the brewery is also included within the stay. We asked Viola Hazlerigg (spokesman Brewdog) if they already thought about implementing a ‘beer spa’ in the hotel, just like this hop spa in Oregon. Viola: “This seems like a waste of good beer. BrewDog beers are for drinking.”

Future of BrewDog

“Our goal is clear; we’re firmly on a mission to make as many people as passionate about beer as we are, this will never change.” Says Viola. “We are currently in the process of building a new brewery in the US as well as our very own distillery; Lone Wolf. In addition to this, we’re constantly expanding our international bar division with recent openings in Malmö and Warsaw, only last week.”

Still no plans for a bar of BrewDog in the Netherlands? Viola: “It’s more than on our radar. Stay tuned!”
