At Horecatrends we spot a lot of national and international trends on a daily basis. We pick the most interesting ones to write articles about, the smaller trends we use in our column ‘Trends we spotted this week’. This week amongst others the Febao and the opening of Albert Heijns’ first restaurant and café.

Pop up bar, Bar Broker will be open for a longer period

The pop-up bar where beverage prizes are fluctuating stays open for three extra months. “The prices at Bar Broker change throughout the evening. “They are influenced by changes in demand and supply, the snow, when president Trump tweets something crazy or when 40 people are inside wearing white t-shirts. “ You can find Bar Broker at the Reguliersdwarsstraat 44, Amsterdam and is open every Thursday (8pm – 1am), Friday (5pm-3am) and Saturday (8pm-3am).

Dunkin’ Donuts | They come to the Netherlands

Dunkin’ Donuts is coming back to the Netherlands and will open at the Nieuwendijk 147, Amsterdam on the 23rd of March. The expectations for 2022 are, 25 more stores in the Netherlands. In the past we already had Dunkin’ Donut stores in the Netherlands but due to a lack of investors, they were not able to survive.

Bakery Café and Deli Kitchen | Café and restaurant in Albert Heijn supermarkets

In the upcoming months, supermarket Albert Heijn is going to open restaurants and coffee café’s in some of its stores. Today the first Deli Kitchen and Bakery Café will be opened at the Gelderlandplein in Amsterdam. At the Deli Kitchen, employees prepare fresh meals, bake pizza’s, prepare salads and serve grilled chicken and spareribs. At the Bakery Café coffee, juices and sandwiches are served.

Febao | Collaboration between FEBO and Happyhappyjoyjoy

Especially for all bao lovers. The bao bun is going to be served in the snackwall of FEBO. A steamed bun with baked patty of duck with hoisin sauce, sweet and sour cucumbers and wasabi mayonnaise. The bun will be introduced during the Taste of Amsterdam, a culinary event that will be held from the 2nd of June till the 5th of June. During this period, the bun will also be served at the Happyhappyjoyjoy restaurants in Amsterdam as well in a few FEBO stores.

Butcher makes Jägermeister sausage

Entrepreneurs are looking for ideas to make sure people drink enough during the Dutch carnival. In Venlo ‘extreme butcher’ Toine Schreinemachers made a sausage with Jägermeister, also known as the ‘jakkersworst’. Last year he made a sausage with black pudding and Jägermeister, this year he made dried sausage with Jägermeister. Besides the extreme carnaval sausages, he also sells sausages with herring (herring and minced meat). In the past he made ‘balkenbreikroketten’, croquettes with residual waste from pork.
