Accor is expanding its presence across Greater China with 350 hotels under development

Accor is advancing through 2022 with a continued focus on expanding its presence across Greater China, offering more hotels to travelers and loyalty members than ever before, from acclaimed brands such as Raffles, Fairmont, Sofitel, MGallery, Pullman, Grand Mercure, Novotel, Mercure, and ibis. Accor’s new project signings in China reached an all-time high in 2021 – leading to more than 520 hotels now in operation and an additional 350 under development. Shake Shack’ experiments with cryptocurrency

An article on Fast Casual about Shake Shack. They’re getting in the bitcoin game in an effort to reach younger customers. Customers are offered the use of cryptocurrency if they’re making purchases using the Cash App, a digital wallet. It’s an experiment to determine if Shake Shack should begin to accept bitcoin as payment. Customers will receive 15% in the form of bitcoin on any Shake Shack purchase made with Cash Card, a debit card available to Cash App users and from buying items via Cash Boost, a rewards program available to Cash Card members. DAD | One menu option vegan meals delivered by bike for under £5

In February Marjolein van Spronsen wrote a blog about ‘healthy cooking for the community’, DAD in Central, North and East London is another example for this kind of delivery!

Launched during the pandemic, DAD offers vegan lunches for GBP 4.85, including delivery. All meals come in compostable packaging and are delivered by bicycle. A new all-day bar, cafe and recording studio is set to open on Great Windmill Street in Soho later this month, named after one of David Bowie’s most controversial personas. Check out the article at The Standard, link in the title.

Guide Michelin Germany | More stars than ever

Imagine hearing from friends about a top restaurant in the Mosel area in Germany. It seems very nice and you are thinking of booking next weekend. And then the restaurant gets 3 Michelin stars in the week before booking! It happened to me last week and I suspect that we will not be able to book at restaurant Schanz by chef Thomas Schanz in Piesport for when we wanted to go. ^Marjolein

The restaurant with a hotel already had 2 Michelin stars and the cuisine is modern-classic. So last Wednesday they received their third star in Hamburg. There is also a new record number of Michelin stars in Germany: 327 restaurants have 1 or more stars. Last year there were 310 restaurants and when Michelin was introduced in 1966 in Germany: 66.

Hotels for Trees Foundation acquires ANBI status

The ANBI status of the Foundation ‘‘Hotels for Trees” have recently been approved! Hotel partners and small hotel chains join ”Hotels for Trees”.    . The foundation now has more than fifty hotel partners in various European cities, who together have already made more than 10,000 trees possible. We wrote about ‘Hotels for Trees’ before.

Fletcher hotels open doors of new hotel at Rotterdam Airport

Today, 11 March, the new Fletcher Hotel Rotterdam Airport will be opened, it is located close to the airport and a stone’s throw from the center of Rotterdam. The hotel has 126 hotel rooms and several modern technologies for e.g. the mini-market and the power supply. Very suitable as a base for guests going on vacation, and also for business guests. Fletcher has also made available a ‘Park and Fly’ package, whereby the car is parked safely under cover during the stay.
