The Galliano L’Aperitivo

20-4-2016

Galliano recently announced a new aperitif in their brand: the Galliano L’Aperitivo. With the characteristic light, bittersweet taste of the drink and two recipes (L’Aperitivo with tonic & a Negroni cocktail) it is time to surprise your guests with the most delicious aperitifs before starting dinner.

The aperitif-moment

The aperitif moment is originally Italian and can be seen as the opening of the dinner. Light drinks and small bites are being served in order to wake up the taste buds. The feeling of hungriness must be tightened with a bitter and/or sweet drink which ‘opens’ your stomach. This also explains the word ‘aperitivo’, which is derived from the Latin word ‘aperire’ which means open up.

Although we don’t have Italian sun and temperatures, the aperitif has become more popular in Western-Europe. The Aperol Spritz has become essential on the Dutch terraces. Galliano responds to this trend and recently launched the Galliano L’Aperitivo on the market. A bitter-sweet thirst quencher and bright pre-dinner drink for Italian moments on Dutch grounds.

Galliano L’Aperitivo

Galliano developed an unique recipe with extracts and infusions of orange, bergamot, mandarin and grapefruit. The result is a sophisticated, bittersweet aperitif called the Galliano L’Aperitivo. So, surprise your guests with a nice aperitif before starting dinner with one of the two so-called ‘signature drinks’ of L’Aperitivo.

L’APERITIVO TONIC
1 part Galliano L’Aperitivo
2 parts tonic water
Ice cubes
Lime wedge

Fill a large glass of wine with lots of ice cubes. Pour 1 part Galliano L’Apertivo (50ml), and pour 2 parts of tonic water (100ml) into the glass. Stir the drink and then squeeze a lemon wedge. Drop the lime wedge into the glass.

NEGRONI
1 part Galliano L’Aperitivo
1 part vermouth
1 part gin
Ice cubes
Orange peel

Fill a whiskey tumbler with ice cubes. Pour 1 part Galliano L’Apertivio (50ml), 1 part vermouth (50ml) and 1 part of gin (50ml) in the glass. Stir the drink and garnish with an orange peel.
