Rebel Coast Winery | Alcohol-free marijuana-infused wine

10-1-2018

Marijuana is becoming a multibillion dollar industry after several US states decided to legalize the use of recreational marijuana about a year ago. Estimations are suggesting the market could be worth over US$50 billion annually by 2026. Besides smoking marijuana, there are plenty other ways to get the marijuana into your body. One of the latest innovations comes from a California winery that created the world’s first alcohol-free, marijuana-infused Sauvignon Blanc.

In 2016 we wrote about cannabis and the impact of it on the hospitality industry. More and more new cannabis products will appear on the market because of the regulations. However, this alcohol-free marijuana-infused wine is also new to us!

Founders of the wine, Chip Forsythe and Alex Howe from Rebel Coast Winery, thought it wouldn’t be that difficult to make the marijuana wine. Remove the alcohol and then infuse it with marijuana. “Turns out its way harder than it sounds, and there are no books or classes to take because no one has ever done it before,” they explained. “So, long story short, after a ton, I mean a ton of trial and error and we can proudly say we created the world’s first Marijuana-infused Sauvingon Blanc.” For the time being, the bottles can only ship to California residents. The price of a bottle cost around $60,-.
