New ‘Taiko Ingredient of the Year’ | Do you know which one it will be?


Last year we wrote about ‘wasabi as Taiko Ingredient of the Year ‘. This year, Asian restaurant Taiko of the Conservatorium Hotel in Amsterdam will announce a new ingredient in combination with a contest in which several prizes can be won. Inspired by the Chinese calendar, Taiko celebrates its birthday on Monday the 18th of September 2017; ‘Taiko New Year’. This is also the moment where chef Schilo van Coevorden will announce the new ‘Taiko Ingredient of the Year’ and launches its brand new menu. The ingredient will be processed in several special and highly original dishes on the menu for one year.

How to win?

In the days leading up to the revelation of the new ‘Taiko Ingredient of the Year’, an online campaign has started where a lot of prizes can be won. So if you have an idea which ingredient will follow up previous ‘ingredients of the year’ such as Wagyu and Wasabi, visit  and join the competition! Prizes that can be won are a Gin & Tonic experience in their bar for two people. Or a lunch for two persons at the Conservatorium Brasserie, or what about the main prize? A twelve-course menu in Taiko + one night at the Conservatorium hotel for two people.
