YouTube has been a source of inspiration for spotting trends the past few years. Every day, thousands of movies are uploaded with new and interesting content. We too sometimes use videos as a source of inspiration to write about. With this week again a selection of videos which Vera Rauwerda thinks are cool to watch. Amongst them a video about Parmesan cheese, why is this cheese so pricey? Also a video about white-gold caviar, a rare and expensive product which is only made in Austria. We already wrote about McDonald’s Next in the past but Vera found a great video about this concept.
Why is Parmesan Cheese so expensive?
Parmesan cheese is an important export product of Italy. The real Parmesan cheese is made in the north of Italy, in the Emilia-Romagna region. Only when the cheese is made in this region, it’s called ‘Parmigiano Reggiano’, the ‘original’ Parmesan cheese. In this video you can see what makes Parmesan cheese so special, how it is made and how the original Parmesan cheese can be recognized. Finally, during the video you will discover why Parmesan cheese is so expensive. I found this video particularly interesting because I didn’t know that the real Parmesan cheese only comes from a certain region in Italy.

Ever heard of white caviar which costs $100.000?
The most expensive food product in the world is caviar from the albino sturgeon mixed with gold (white gold caviar). The reason why this is the most expensive food product in the world is the fact that die albino sturgeon is very rare and the process of harvesting caviar can take between 14 and 16 years. The video shows the process which is executed by the Grüll family in Austria. They are the only fish farmers who know how to do this.
For most people, caviar is a very expensive product and many of them have never taste it. This was one of the reasons why I found this video very interesting. In addition to that, it fascinates me that the Grüll family are the only ones in the world who produce and sell this product.

McDonald’s Next, the McDonald’s of the future!
We already wrote about it at horecatrends.com in 2016, McDonald’s Next, a concept of McDonald’s that in Hong Kong. The video shows what McDonald’s Next offers. More options, healthier alternatives and even table service after 6 o’clock. The food is also served in a ‘luxurious’ way. It may cost a little more, but you also get more in return!
I believe that within the upcoming years, many McDonald’s Next concepts will be opened around the world. Besides that I found the video interesting to watch because of the trend around fresh and healthy, McDonald’s clearly capitalises on that with Next.
