Steinbeisser and the Lloyd Hotel invited the French chef Alexandre Gauthier from restaurant La Grenouillère (** Michelin) to Amsterdam for a new edition of Experimental Gastronomy. On 5 and 6 June, a full vegan tasting menu will be served on unconventional crockery and cutlery, which will be developed especially for this occasion in collaboration with ten artists. Experimental Gastronomy offers a unique experience, where they challenge all participants, guests included, to search for the boundaries of eating habits.

Steinbeisser invites chef Alexandre Gauthier (** Michelin) to Lloyd Hotel

Chef Alexandre Gauthier cooks in restaurant La Grenouillère in La Madelaine-sous-Montreuil (France), awarded with two Michelin stars and number 64 of The World’s Best Restaurants. As a young cook he worked at several famous French restaurants, but in 2003 he decided to take over La Grenouillère from his father. Gauthier’s father had made a strong commitment to traditional French cuisine but his son created a modern menu with the focus on seasonal ingredients. For Experimental Gastronomy he serves a pure-vegetable menu (vegan), using exclusively ingredients from organic or biodynamic cultivation from the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and France.

Why do we eat as we eat, and can we do that differently? From this question Steinbeisser explores new ways to eat consciously. Looking for answers, ten artists created new utensils that break through the conventions in collaboration with Steinbeisser. Unique designs made of divers materials such as clay, glass, wood and paper pulp, will surprise guests during this dinner and invite them to approach food from a different perspective. The cutlery was made by Sharon Adams, Nils Hint and Sophie Hanagarth and the service by Aino Nebel, Tomasz Niedziolka, Nuala Clooney, Kaye Winwood, Myung Urso, Willemijn de Greef and Jolan van der Wiel. We already wrote about Steinbesser when they opened their webshop ‘Jouw…’ where they sell the Steinbesser Collection.

Dinner will take place at the Lloyd Hotel on the Oostelijke Handelskade 34 in Amsterdam on 5 and 6 June 2018 and starts at 19:00. Reservations can be made via info@steinbeisser.org.
