Youth Food Movement asks for food education

9-6-2016

The Youth Food Movement thinks it should be mandatory to educate every child of the Netherlands about food. Awareness of food, harvest, learning to cook and healthy food at all schools. From the idea of having the right on good, healthy food and that they deserve to learn at an early age what is healthy. You can sign the petition at their website and join the conversation on social media with the hashtag #voedselonderwijs. We support this initiative and are convinced that there are a lot of chefs that could help with cooking classes on schools.

About the Youth Food Movement

Eating is something we all do. Food is extremely common, but at the same time it’s one of the most complex topics to talk about, it touches almost all social and ecological issues of this time. The Youth Food Movement is a national youth movement that is committed to a healthier and more honest food system. A good, clean and fair food system. This means that people regain respect for the food they eat, and the road that the food has taken before it ends up on your plate. Food with a focus on animal welfare and making sure to minimize the possible toxin in the food and that producers of our food get a fair price for the work they do.

They organize events like the Food Festival, Gastro pubs, debates and the YFM Academy, this way they try to make the complex food system manageable.
