XXL edition Rrrollend Den Haag at the Malieveld

4-8-2017

Until Sunday August 6th, Rrrollend Den Haag XXL will be at the Malieveld with dozens of food trucks, specialty beer bars, a turning mill and more. With 22 editions a year, spread throughout the country, Rrrollend is the biggest food truck festival in the Netherlands. Rrrollend usually stretches down in the city centre, like the Lange Voorhout in The Hague a few months ago. But not this time during a XXL edition on the Malieveld. Due to the fact that this location is a lot bigger, it means that Rrrollend The Hague consists out of twice the amount food trucks than normal (over 40!). Besides, there is an extensive musical lineup and extra entertainment for the children.

Tasting at Rrrollend

Rrrollend The Hague XXL is free of charge, the food trucks and bars are working with tokens. This is the first time that a ‘tasting at Rrrollend’ is introduced. In addition to the standard menus of the trucks, all trucks offer mini-dishes for just one token, allowing visitors to have a small tasting at the festival. For only € 11, = you’ll have five tasting tokens, just find the right trucks and if you’re an average person, you’ll have a full stomach at the end of the evening.

The 44 food trucks have enough to offer, also for vegetarians, vegans and people with a food allergy. Visitors will buy a glass for one token, which you can use the rest of the evening to have a drink. Off  course, the glass will be replaced with a clean glass at each subsequent drink. At the end of the evening, the Rrrollend glass may be brought home or donated to CliniClowns. Since the start in 2014, Rrrollend has already raised over € 15,000 in this way.

Daddy Donut

During our visit to the festival we also had a favorite food truck: food truck Daddy Donut from the Hague. Daddy Donut is a food truck that wants to put the classic donut in a new style. From sweet to savory toppings. All the donuts are freshly fried and served with all kinds of sweets. In addition, Tim, owner of the food truck, is busy making his freakshakes even freakier. The milkshake base is made with donuts (a bit like the pie shakes we wrote about last week). A food truck for the real sugar lovers.
