At horecatrends.com we spot many national and international trends on a daily basis. We pick the most interesting ones to write about, the other trends we use in our weekly column ‘Trends we spotted this week’. With this week links to articles about among others:

  • McDonald’s X Crocs – a collaboration resulting in very special crocs.

  • Fletcher Hotels in the Netherlands adjusted its policy on action vouchers in consultation with the Dutch Consumers’ Association.
  • A new flavour combination from Heinz – Pickle Ketchup. Available in early 2024.
  • The Connaught hotel in Mayfair has unveiled its legendary Christmas tree, decorated this year by the British artist and sculptor Rachel Whiteread.

Ravioles du Dauphiné at the menu of Café Chelsea in NYC

The Hotel Chelsea has transformed into one of New York’s premier luxury hotels. After reopening in early 2022, the hotel continues its evolution with the opening of Café Chelsea. We spotted one of their dishes in the article on Food & Wine, link in the title. This dish must bring back memories, for everyone who ever tasted it in France. I loved it when I was young, and I haven’t seen it for years. It’s on the menu of Café Chelsea – ravioles du dauphiné. The sauce is made with salted butter, grated Emmenthal and Comte cheese. The Disney Treasure | Disney cruise line had added its sixth theme-packed ship

Disney is adding a sixth ship to its growing cruise line. The ship is called the Disney Treasure, and it’s brimming with the kind of colorful, pop-culture theme you’d expect, with nods to ‘The Lion King’, Marvel superheroes, ‘20,000 Leagues Under the Sea’, ‘Star Wars’ and others. The Treasure has its own fancy water ride called ‘AquaMouse: Curse of the Golden Egg’, the ride will be suspended above the upper decks. Guests will also have a Broadway-style theater, showing ‘Beauty and the Beast’ and ‘Disney Seas the Adventure’, as well as cinemas.

Espresso Martini fragrance

Absolut and Kahluá are celebrating the continuous espresso martini popularity and the start of the holiday season with a fragrance of the popular cocktail. The fragrance, created in partnership with Imaginary Authors perfumery, will be available for a limited time and contains notes of dark chocolate, sugarcane rum, Arabica coffee, velvety foam and night musk. Fresh baked cookies fragrance  

It’s the season of perfume commercials! The smell of fresh baked cookies is probably the most iconic scent during holiday season, it has a way of putting people in the holiday mood. Nestle Toll House and skincare brand Beekman 1802 have partnered up to bring this famous aroma on to your skin! The holiday exclusive collection has six body care products, featuring aromas of warm vanilla, rich butterscotch, cocoa and toasted brown sugar. McDonald’s X Crocs

A new brand mash-up between McDonald’s and Crocs!, this first collaboration between the two looks quite spectacular and extravagant and can truly elevate any look. Restaurant Kernel opens in New York next year | Robot-powered meat-free restaurants

Steve Ells, the founder of Chipotle, has announced he is opening a vegetarian fast-casual restaurant chain called Kernel. These restaurants will be operated mostly by robots. Plans are to open at least 15 locations of Kernel, the first by early 2024. The chain will serve vegetarian sandwiches, salads, and sides, made in a space that’s around 1,000 square-feet or smaller. Heinz Pickle Ketchup launched in the USA

Everyone that loves pickles knows about the great combination it has with Heinz Ketchup. For all those pickle lovers, today is a good day. Heinz has announced the launch of Pickle Ketchup, a new condiment that combines the delicious flavour of pickles with the unmistakable taste of Heinz Ketchup. It will be available in the USA early 2024! How fast will it reach the shelves in Amsterdam? More details in the press release, link in title.

Fletcher hotels in the Netherlands extends validity period for all promotional vouchers

The law states that gift vouchers and promotional vouchers must be valid for at least two years in the Netherlands, this does not apply to overnight promotional vouchers. While these are no less suitable for gift giving. After consulting with the consumer association and listening to guests, Fletcher Hotels has decided to extend all overnight promotional vouchers to two years immediately and automatically. All vouchers sold after 1 January 2022 are therefore valid for two years from today. More details on their website, link in title.

Connaught Christmas Tree 2023

On Friday the 17th of November –  The legendary Connaught Christmas Tree has been revealed outside the Connaught hotel. This year the tree has been designed by British artist and sculptor lady Rachel Whiteread. This marks the start of the festive season on Mount Street in the heart of Mayfair. The tree is a staggering 31 ft tall and is decorated with neon white hoops, illuminating the streets of Mayfair!
