New travellers and destinations will give European tourism a whole new look by 2036, new Accor report reveals

New travellers, new destinations and changing demand will give the European tourism market a different face over the next ten years. That is the finding of a new report from Accor, the world-leading hospitality group. The report is based on forecasts that Accor commissioned from Tourism Economics, an internationally renowned economic research firm. According to the report, demand for tourist accommodation in Europe will grow by 32 per cent over the next ten years, equivalent to more than 1.6 billion additional overnight stays a year. International tourism is growing almost twice as fast as domestic tourism, accounting for one billion additional international overnight stays per year.

  • The report also shows that Asia, the Middle East and Central and Eastern Europe are the fastest-growing source markets for Europe.
  • Visitor spending in Europe is expected to rise to more than €1.3 trillion.
  • In addition, Central and Eastern Europe, the Baltic states and parts of the Balkans are among the destinations where demand is growing fastest.

Christmas collection from Ghent’s Chocolaterie Vandenbouhede, with a chocolate carousel in the window that really turns

In the heart of Ghent, the Belgian Chocolaterie Vandenbouhede is creating a Christmas that you can not only taste, but also see in motion. As the centrepiece of its window display, the chocolatier has made a carousel built entirely from chocolate that can really turn. On Instagram, you can follow which other creations will appear in the window.

The carousel is built from different types of chocolate, filled with praline and marshmallow and finished at the top with dragée balls. The nutcracker is also made from chocolate with dragée balls, designed to be admired first and then broken! Visit the chocolaterie’s website. We love the look of their praline ‘Bloody Mary’!

Smart Coffee | A dual opportunity: premium coffee and dietary supplements

For a century, coffee innovation has focused on flavour, origin, and speed. Think instant coffee, pods, cold brew, and specialty coffee. The next generation is transforming what’s actually in the cup: coffee reimagined as a comprehensive system, like Smart Coffee. This coffee contains over 17 active ingredients in a single serving, including 3.5g of Peptan collagen peptides, magnesium bisglycinate, methylated B-vitamins, 80mg of caffeine paired with 100mg of L-theanine, and zero sugar. Every ingredient is precisely dosed and clearly declared. As for the functional benefits, the facts are: magnesium and B-vitamins contribute to the reduction of fatigue and support normal energy-yielding metabolism. For hospitality entrepreneurs, this presents a dual opportunity: a single cup taps into two different spending categories: premium coffee and dietary supplements. Guests don’t need to adopt a new routine; the ritual they already follow does the work. Smart Coffee was founded by biochemist Priscila Petrocchi and nutritionist Camila Frezard.
