GROHE reveals a recycling shower solution for a water stressed world

GROHE, a leading global brand for complete bathroom solutions and kitchen fittings, recently unveiled a new water-recycling shower concept, expanding the brand’s range of bathroom and kitchen products that promote efficient water use and make sustainable choices easier. It shows how a new generation of sanitary solutions can drastically cut water use. Nowhere is this more important than in the bathroom – which accounts for over two thirds of daily water usage (4). In addition, water heating is the second biggest source of energy usage at home (5). Increased water efficiency cuts fossil fuel use, energy bills and carbon emissions.

GROHE’s circulating solution cleans, reheats and reuses water in order to use only a quarter of the water and a third of the energy typically required by traditional showers, translating into a cost-saving of up to 65% a year for a four-person household and up to 70% less CO2 emissions. This new technology has been designed to create the shower experience people expect but using as little fresh water as possible – and opens up the opportunity enjoy a long shower, guilt free! More details in their press release, link in the title. Could this be a solution for small boutique hotels and B&B’s?

Dairy brand ‘Kalverliefde’ sells milk from farms that keep calves with cows

As from October 1 the new milk brand Kalverliefde will be on the market in the Netherlands, just in time for international animal day (October 4). It’s a new milk brand, being launched to ensure calves can stay with their moms for months instead of hours. Kalverliefde — literally ‘calf love’ and figuratively ‘puppy love’ — works with farmers who ensures cows and their offspring stay together, allowing the calves to suckle from their mother instead of from artificial udders. Out of over 15,000 dairy farmers in the Netherlands, an estimated 45 currently keep calves with cows. Would it be a sympathetic gesture to use this milk in coffee shops?
