Korean restaurant COTE Miami awarded a Michelin star in the first South Florida Michelin Guide

COTE Miami, one of the city’s most coveted reservations since opening in 2021 in Miami’s Design District, has been awarded a MICHELIN Star and the Florida Sommelier Award, in the inaugural 2022 MICHELIN Guide Florida Star Revelation, a distinction that was announced at a ceremony held in Orlando June 9.

America’s first KOREAN STEAKHOUSE™ conceptualized by proprietor and hospitality visionary Simon Kim and brought to life by an exceptional team – COTE’s Beverage Director, Victora James, and Executive Chef David Shim- the restaurant’s secret to success is providing the best meat, cooked on the best grills and paired with the best wine and spirits. As complex as it is simple, this formula earned COTE’s New York City location four consecutive MICHELIN-stars since 2017, when it received its first star within 6 months of opening. The South Florida award marks the brand’s fifth star overall and represents COTE’s steadfast dedication to consistently meet MICHELIN’s stringent five-criteria rating ranging from quality of ingredients to consistency between visits.

Shaffy Restobar welcomes new chef de cuisine Koji Miyahira

Koji Miyahira gives his Japanese roots a place on the new menu. Last summer, Felix Meritis opened the new hospitality hotspot Shaffy Restobar. The restaurant is now known for its signature dishes. With the arrival of chef Koji Miyahira, the restaurant on the Keizersgracht gets a new look and an Asian twist on the menu. Chef Floris van Straalen will take over the management of the kitchen, but will remain involved in the vision of the restaurant. With the arrival of Koji Miyahira the menu has been adjusted at some levels. A number of guilty pleasures have been given a Japanese twist. Chef Koji Miyahira is the son of a Dutch mother and Japanese father. At a young age he was inspired by the cooking skills of his Japanese grandmother: a curiosity that grew into a serious skill. Over the years, he developed his own style in which the purity of the product takes centre stage. Koji was previously in the kitchen at Gaggan, Envy and Bougainville.

DoubleTree by Hilton Amsterdam Central Station offers employees a VanMoof e-bike for one euro a day

Thanks to a partnership with the popular e-bike brand VanMoof, employees at DoubleTree by Hilton Amsterdam Central Station can now take an electric bike to work. The hotel is the first hospitality partner in the Netherlands to launch the VanMoof subscription for their entire team.

All employees who work at least 50 hours a month in the hotel can apply to lease a VanMoof S3 or X3. The position of the employee is not important, which means that interns or people who only work two shifts a week, for example, can also join this initiative. Thanks to the cooperation with VanMoof and a contribution to the costs from the hotel, this is possible for as little as one euro a day plus the costs of the tax addition.

Ekster vs Ekstera | Passion fruit makes the difference in the new beers from the ‘Learn to Taste’ series by Bird Brewery

Ekster and Ekstera are the latest beers in Bird Brewery’s ‘Learn to Taste’ series. Two new ‘New England IPAs’ based on a fine blend of malts and a generous dose of hops. The difference between the beers is the passion fruit. This is also what Bird Brewery’s specials are all about this year: a small difference so you can learn to taste real beer. Every two months the brewery releases two new beers with a small difference. During a free online tasting and tasting session in their tasting room House of Bird, you will learn to taste the small differences between the beers under the guidance of beer sommeliers. The tasting session can be attended online and offline on Thursday 30 June.
