Foodmakers and innovation | What makes plant-based chicken ‘TiNDLE’ special?

The Dutch John Seegers is Chief Technology Officer of Next Gen Foods. He was one of the founders of TiNDLE and has perfected the texture, taste, aroma and juiciness of the product by conducting extensive research into what exactly the taste and experience of chicken is. With the introduction of TiNDLE to the Dutch market, Seegers and his team will work closely with chefs and hospitality entrepreneurs to bring this tasty and versatile plant-based chicken to the general public. “Next Gen Foods is a natural match with the Netherlands, where consumers already have a strong interest in plant-based foods,” says Seegers. ” Amsterdam is home to some of the best restaurants in the world – with a community of experts who understand the importance of making sustainability an integral part of the menu. The true foodmakers here have always been open to innovation, so we’re really looking forward to bringing TiNDLE to Amsterdam and partnering with culinary trendsetters.”

What makes TiNDLE special? – TiNDLE mimics the exact smell, taste and texture of chicken and offers endless cooking options, just like real chicken. The product is supplied malleable, but acquires a firm structure when prepared. This allows a wide variety of dishes to be made with the product, from dumplings to kebab or burgers.

Global Growth for Next Gen Foods

In 2020, Next Gen Foods was founded by Brazilian-born poultry exporter and food industry veteran Andre Menezes and German-born Timo Recker, whose family business has been making schnitzel and other meat products for three generations. The entrepreneurs found each other in the ambition to make food products that would reduce the dependence on livestock farming and their negative impact on people and the environment. They named their first product TiNDLE. Next Gen Foods kicked off with a $30 million investment from Asian and American venture capitalists, the largest round of launch ever for a plant-based food startup.
