On Thursday July 16, 2020 web shop ‘Our Daily Bottle’ opened the doors of their unique hybrid retail wine concept ‘The Tasting Room’ on the Vlaamsekaai in Antwerp. The Tasting Room is the brand new offline showroom and flagship of digital innovator ‘Our Daily Bottle’: a successful start-up web store with wine subscriptions. Entrepreneur Isabeau Sas, the driving force behind both concepts, challenges the traditional retail and skilfully responds to a combination of online and offline by focusing on the wine experience.

Great concept to visit as a wine lover if you go to Antwerp! It’s the first online wine shop we spotted making this move but here in Europe we even spot big online brands creating offline experience shops, like for example Coolblue here in the Netherlands.

The Tasting Room by Our Daily Bottle | Enomatic machines

In The Tasting Room, the threshold of wine shopping is lowered. You do not have to choose by chance, or explain with great difficulty to the wine merchant what exactly you like to drink. You can easily taste everything yourself, due to enomatic machines and software. Enomatic machines are automatic wine dispensers where the customer can taste the wines from the webshop of Our Daily Bottle by means of self-service. At the same time products van be purchased online.

Digital interaction

The Tasting Room is not only a place to taste, buy and drink wine, but also to learn something about wine. You can go there for wine courses and guided digital tastings with the winemakers. The Tasting Room is structured interactively, with touch screens and QR codes. Do you want to know more about the wines? Scan the QR code and the winemaker will explain. Do you like the wine? Scan the QR code and put it in your online shopping cart. The next day your purchase is at your doorstep. Not a classic wine store, but a phygital blend of retail and e-commerce. A concept that does not yet exist in the wine industry in Belgium.

Our Daily Bottle caused a lot of controversy 4 years ago as the first online wine subscription and fresh e-commerce start-up. Entrepreneur Isabeau Sas wanted to revive the dazed wine trade and make wine hip and trendy again for a younger generation of consumers. The start-up evolved to a scale-up this year thanks to exponential growth. With this hybrid retail concept, Our Daily Bottle wants to take the next step in the growth story.
