Following in the footsteps of Dutch heroes, Shell is introducing the theme ‘Taste the world’s cuisine’ this year. Every quarter, Shell introduces a new themed range inspired by world flavours. This quarter, the focus is on Surinamese and Indian cuisine and Shell entered into a temporary collaboration with Soenil Bahadoer, chef and owner of the two Michelin-starred restaurant De Lindehof. The specials developed by Soenil are now available at all Shell stations with a bakery in the Netherlands.

Assortment full of worldly flavours

For this collaboration, chef Soenil Bahadoer developed the recipes for the bara chicken and roti. Besides Soenil’s specials, they’re also temporarily including other products in their range. These include gingerbread, spicy tikka masala bun, ginger latte, dirty chai latte and delicious tropical juices. “With the introduction of ‘Taste the World Cuisine’, we want to offer our guests a changing range and remain distinctive in the market. This way we introduce our guests to flavours from all over the world,” said Kees van Wezel, Head of Foodservice Benelux & France at Shell Retail. The products are available at Shell stations with a bakery from 12 April to 11 July 2023.

As icing on the cake, Soenil Bahadoer will travel the country with a food truck to introduce guests to the bara chicken. On Thursday 20 April, guests can taste the sandwich for free (gone = gone) at Shell station Haarrijn on the A2 (from 11:00 to 12:30) or Shell station de Andel on the A12 (from 13:00 to 14:30). Moreover, Soenil is also giving away fun prizes. Guests have the chance to win a cookbook called ‘Spicy Chef’ or a lunch or dinner voucher at restaurant De Lindehof worth €400. Soenil Bahadoer: “I would like to introduce Surinamese and Indian cuisine to the guests of Shell. I learned the use of different flavours from my mother at a young age. You can taste those worldly flavours in the bara chicken”.

We mentioned the food truck of Soenil Bahadoer and more importantly his snacks in this article.
