From the Easter weekend onwards, Amsterdam’s city beach Strandzuid will be open daily for a relaxed lunch, drinks or dinner again. To celebrate the transition from the wintery South Pole to the warm Strandzuid, they will kick off terrace season on Good Friday (March 29) with their traditional Beer event.

Strandzuid’s Beer Drinks the go-to event

In recent years, Strandzuid’s Beer event has become the go-to event at the beginning of spring. The menu features lots of beer, bites and sultry hits. Because the concept of “feet in the sand and a beer in your hand” (or with shoes, it’s the end of March after all) works like a magnet, it’s wise to buy a ticket in advance (five euros). In return, you’ll be treated to a welcome drink and lots of fun.

Sandra van den Hurk, operations director of Strandzuid: “We’re kicking off the summer season with a bang! Weather or no weather, it will be an extra Good Friday. And we’ve got many events planned afterwards as well. Things like drag queen bingo and the European Football Championship. Rather enjoy lunch or dinner? That’s also possible. We’re looking forward to it!

Palm Beach

All parties aside, Strandzuid remains fundamentally a beachy oasis in Amsterdam. It is the place to be for those who don’t have plenty of time to drive to the coast on a sunny day. Because at Strandzuid you can not only sit by the water, but you’re truly surrounded by water on their little ‘terrace island’. To make it even more beautiful, this summer Palm Beach will open, a nice piece of beach with two meters-high palms that VU University Amsterdam kindly donated and which Strandzuid has lovingly adopted.

À la carte and events

Strandzuid is a wonderful place to enjoy a sunny lunch or cozy dinner (by yourself to a group of friends and everything in-between), but also very suitable for events with a beachy vibe. And if it’s pouring from the sky? Even then it is – covered and well, overlooking the water and the Beatrixpark – a good place to be.

Strandzuid is open seven days a week from 11:00 am. The Beer event costs five euros and is from 17:00 to 01:00. Buy tickets, reserve a table or more information? Then surf to strand-zuid.nl.
