What comes to mind when you think of Iceland? The awe-inspiring Northern Lights and cosy nights, geysers and glaciers, vast volcanoes and vodka. Vodka you say? Yes, vodka. Till the 26th of November Londoners can taste and experience Reyka Vodka during the Reyka expedition in Hackney London. We would love to have the Reyka expedition as well in Amsterdam!

Reyka Expedition

Reyka Vodka will be showcasing some aspects of their charmingly unconventional Icelandic spirit in 18 of Hackney’s coolest hangouts, from the 14th – 26th November. Reyka is inviting Londoners to join them on a creative expedition across Hackney. From Icelandic feasts featuring a range of the country’s most famous delicacies to a water projection showing the awe-inspiring Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights). Visitors should expect the unexpected. Brand Ambassador, Fabiano Latham explained: “Iceland is one of the most charming and unique lands in the world, one with distinctive provenance, people and culture, which is why we have created a spirit that captures the offbeat spirit of Iceland. We proudly embody all of the awe-inspiring offerings in our Reyka vodka production.” The vodka that is made unlike any other – powered by volcanoes, filtered through lava rocks, using arctic glacial water.

Reyka Vodka

Reyka is not just ‘Made in Iceland’ but ‘Made Of Iceland’. The water comes from an arctic spring that runs through a 4,000-year-old lava field, it’s some of the purest in the world. Distilled in Borgarnes, a coastal village surrounded by rich natural resources. The master distiller of Reyka is Þórður Sigurðsson, he is also the local fireman and policeman. They distill Reyka in one of the few Carter-Head stills in the world. It’s high copper level gives Reyka unparalleled smoothness from a single distillation. Iceland is full of lava rocks, which are used to filter their vodka, giving it a crisp, clean taste. Reyka is made in small batches to ensure exceptional quality. Each distillation takes about 6 hours and only makes 255 cases. Watch here the video to see how it is made.
