Here in the Netherlands we have small sustainable concepts like Pomms’ Rotterdam and the chain Vegan Junk Food Bar. These sustainable initiatives range from putting new sustainable tech in place to climate-neutral burgers and fast-food brands that solely serve vegetarian & vegan food.

With #VeganJanuary, #TryJanuary and the importance of sustainability for our future, a list of concepts worth to try! And as you will read, many of these initiatives have been reported on our website for years. We don’t really get why large companies like The Crown, The Clown and The Colonel have not played a larger part in this development.

Food start-up GREENFORCE is launching a B2B platform this month to serve the hospitality industry in the Netherlands with its vegetable powder mixes in bulk packaging. With this development, they are responding to the demand from restaurant guests for more vegetable options on the menu. GREENFORCE offers the catering industry the opportunity to experiment with vegetable powder mixes. The sustainable mixes have a long shelf life, are packed with protein and are easy to customise: with the bulk mixes, restaurants can easily put a vegetable burger or meatball with their own twist on the menu. On the platform, restaurants and caterers can order the bulk mixes in burger, minced meat, meatball, egg, schnitzel and smear.

The famous ramen restaurant Takumi is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year and is organizing festive activities and moments throughout the year to celebrate. In 2007, they opened their first branch in Düsseldorf and by now there are already 41 restaurants to be found all over Europe. At Takumi you can enjoy authentic Japanese Sapporo Noodles which have become extremely popular in recent years. In the Netherlands you can taste Takumi’s specialties in The Hague, Amsterdam, Rotterdam or Eindhoven. We will definitely visit soon!
