Marjolein van Spronsen is responsible for the marketing and communication of the ‘Van Spronsen & Partners Group’ since 2004 and works in the hospitality industry for over 35 years already. This varied from being a waitress at restaurants to a stewardess at KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, were she flew around the world for 10 years. In 2007 she took the initiative to inspire entrepreneurs in the hospitality industry with hospitalitytrends.eu. It was a logical step to share her worldwide experience in the hospitality industry and that of colleagues at ‘Van Spronsen & Partners hospitality consultancy’ with entrepreneurs.

Marjolein: “Cooking is a mayor hobby of mine and I love to go out dining with my husband, our girls and friends, especially at restaurants where the chefs are intensely involved in their profession. I can hugely enjoy the creativity of these chefs. At the end of 2012 I was treated for a cancer tumor under my tongue, after that, a long period of recovery followed. Apart from the ‘ordinary fears’ with a diagnose like this, I was afraid to never enjoy my cooking and dining hobbies again.. The taste in the left part of my tongue is completely gone, but to my own surprise my creativity in the kitchen is still at the same level. I only do leave the fine delicate pre-tastings to others. The sudden disruption of my senses did open my eyes for the total experience in restaurants even more, although my senses were at a maximum already. With an intensified sense for the artwork on the plate, the structures, the chef’s creativity, the decoration and the hospitality I enjoy my dinners as much as before.”
