Mahbir Premium Indian Saffron launched in Amsterdam during the ‘Hotelnacht’. The 100% pure red stigma‐tip saffron strands, handpicked in Kashmir, India, are now available in the UK and in Amsterdam. One of the new ways saffron is being used is in cocktails, a Gin & Tonic with saffron-infused ice cubes for example.

Saffron-infused ice cubes

During the launch of Mahbir Premium Indian Saffron in the Netherlands at the Silent Disco at the ‘Hotelnacht in Amsterdam’ attendees could sip Copperhead Gin & Fever-Tree Indian Tonic with Mahbir Saffron-infused ice cubes. One of us drank a G&T in London last month with saffron ice cubes which gives the drink a light earthy taste. Well, it’s a surprising, another way to serve a G&T.

Mahbir Premium Indian Saffron

To enable consumers to familiarise themselves with the taste of saffron, Mahbir Premium Indian Saffron created a complementary range of high quality ready‐to‐eat products featuring their saffron. Mahbir Thukral, owner of this company, wants to bring the taste and use of saffron into the mainstream in Europe. Saffron is for example known from the saffron rice and is commonly referred to being one the world’s most expensive spice. At the ‘Hotelnacht Amsterdam’ Mahbir created the saffron-infused ice cubes which were used to create the G&T’s at the Silent Disco. But he also introduced his 100% pure red stigma‐tip saffron strands, which have been grown, handpicked, and harvested by the co‐operative farmers in Kashmir, India.

The attendees of the Silent Disco were the happy ones being able to taste a couple of his ready‐to‐eat products all of which have been infused with Mahbir Premium Indian Saffron. Like Belgian milk chocolate, crisp apple jam and tangy orange marmalade all infused with premium Indian saffron.

Currently, Mahbir Premium Indian Saffron is available to purchase online at their website. Mahbir is actively seeking distributors and retailers across Europe with the Mahbir product range. Furthermore, Mahbir Premium Indian Saffron strands are also available in wholesale format for the hospitality industry. As the ‘saffron expert,’ Mahbir is also providing hands-on menu development for bars and restaurants.

February

As of the beginning of February, jams of Mahbir which are infused with saffron will be launched in a franchise of De Kaasspecialist in Amsterdam and Mahbir will give a recipe development workshop to Chefs & Co near RAI Amsterdam. On Valentine’s Day, there will be a saffron tasting menu together with SURYA Indian and Nepalese Restaurants in Hilversum, Amsterdam and Utrecht which will be co-hosted by Mahbir. In short, plenty of things to do for Mahbir in the upcoming weeks.
