We missed this initiative by Domino’s Pizza  from June last year up to this morning but for once we don’t really mind. This way we can check whether this is just a media stunt or that they’re actually ‘paving for pizza’. As their press release back in June said; “Domino’s is saving pizza, one pothole at a time”. Cracks, bumps, potholes and other road conditions can put good pizzas at risk after they leave the store. Domino’s was hoping to help smooth the ride home for their freshly-made pizzas. Started June last year, Domino’s asked customers to nominate their town for pothole repairs at Paving For Pizza. And as we recently visited the states Florida and New York in the USA we noticed the terrible conditions of the road, so a great campaign by Domino’s Pizza.

“Have you ever hit a pothole and instantly cringed? We know that feeling is heightened when you’re bringing home a carryout order from your local Domino’s store. We don’t want to lose any great-tasting pizza to a pothole, ruining a wonderful meal,” said Russell Weiner, president of Domino’s USA.  “Domino’s cares too much about its customers and pizza to let that happen.”

Domino’s has already worked alongside four municipalities to help repair roads that directly affect their customers, including Bartonville, Texas; Milford, Delaware; Athens, Georgia and Burbank, California. Customers interested in nominating their town for a paving grant from Domino’s could enter the zip code at the website of Paving for Pizza. If their town is selected, the customer will be notified and the city will receive funds to help repair roads so Domino’s pizzas make it home safely.

After a huge social-media buzz more than 130.000 people signed up for paving for pizza, Domino’s Pizza decided to pave at least one pothole in each of the 50 states. It turns out that ‘Paving for Pizza’ isn’t just a media stunt but that Domino’s is still helping municipalities to repair their roads.
