December 14, Starbucks started their search for five of the merriest homes in the U.S. – and the stories behind the people who bring cheer to their neighborhood during the holidays. This holiday season, Starbucks is teaming up with singer, songwriter and actress Christina Milian. From December 14 through Sunday, December 17, Starbucks invited everyone to share how their home’s holiday display brings cheer to their neighborhood. Everyone could submit an image of their very merry home to holidaycheermakers.com and share their story and inspiration for a chance to be selected as one of Starbucks Holiday Cheermakers. Five winners will receive Starbucks Cards for their neighborhood to enjoy.

The contest already closed but we think it’s a great idea to organize a contest like this as local shops! Even in the Netherlands where most Christmas decorations are modest in comparison to some streets in the USA!

Holiday Cheermakers

On Thursday December 14, Starbucks celebrated Holiday Cheermakers Michael and David. Michael and David started decorating their home three years ago to honor a late family member, who, every year, went above and beyond to decorate her home for the holidays. With a mission to infuse hope and joy into their community their home has become a holiday destination with thousands of visitors coming by every year to see their holiday home display. This year’s theme features many captivating elements – including more than 70,000 lights, aerial artists and more – and is a full family affair, with the couple’s three children involved in bringing to life the annual tradition.

Michael and David’s holiday light show accepts donations in-person and online to give back to several local charities throughout the season – supporting children and families, the LGBTQ community and homelessness.

Connect over coffee and share joy

It’s the season of cheer, and the holidays at Starbucks are all about creating moments to come together, connect over coffee, and share joy. From taking in the holiday lights, to walks in the park with friends with a holiday red cup in hand, creating moments of togetherness and celebrating loved ones are what make the holidays special.

“I grew up on ‘Candy Cane Lane’ in Los Angeles, and many of my childhood memories are of helping decorate our home for the holiday season,” said Milian. “I’m so excited to be teaming up with Starbucks to find Holiday Cheermakers who bring joy to their neighborhoods every season. Driving around to look at holiday decorations remains one of my favorite family traditions!”

Some of Christina’s favorite projects have been the holiday movies she’s starred in (including a new streaming movie out now!), as she loves sharing the joy of the season with others.
