Last week we were invited to taste Cafes-Canton coffee. A delicious ‘slow roast’ coffee by a small family company in the Vosges (France). Jan-Willem van Rijn, owner of Barista Café Haarlem, has made the ‘tasting notes’ of all their coffees. We tasted the espresso and although we are not real coffee connoisseurs, we could completely find ourselves in Jan-Willem’s final conclusion: an adult espresso. For example, the Dutch use vinegar mostly for kitchen purposes while in Japan it’s common to drink vinegar cocktails. This week, the doors of the Champagneria ‘Five Brothers Fat’ will open at De Clercq Street 56 in the restaurant area of Amsterdam-West. Inspired by the Champagneria in Barcelona. The idea for a Champagneria originated in a trip to Barcelona by five hospitality brothers. During the trip they visited the famous and very popular Cava bar in one of the side streets of Barceloneta. A success story at the Mediterranean coast and one of the places to be seen in Barcelona. You only need to deliver your necktie Friday 7 July at Van Zanten café, ‘een tappie voor een dassie’ (Dutch slang meaning ‘a draft for a necktie’). For those who have to work before the summer holiday starts, come and exchange a tie for a glass of ice cold beer to celebrate the fact that we have fewer traffic jams the coming weeks!

Bavaria introduces Bavaria Radler Ice Lemon 2.0%. Bavaria Radler Lemon 2.0%, now for sale on a stick. The Dutch beer brewer is the first major brewer with an ice cream made of Radler. The refreshing ice cream has a light sweet Radler flavour, with tones of lemon and 2.0% alcohol and will be available from this summer at several festivals and events in The Netherlands.
