This week, amongst others about self-guided tours at the Louvre, narrated by Beyoncé and Jay-Z and ‘Pool is Cool’ in Brussels, they try to re-introduce open air swimming here. With the current heatwave in Northern Europe we sympathize with them! And a set menu yakitori counter from Tokyo (Torishiki, * Michelin star) will be opening in New York in 2019. Just guess how much you have to pay for chicken skewers here! Gold leaf ice cream has been spotted in London as well!

¡Arriba! | Restaurant Ceviche throws a fiesta for Peruvian Independence Day

On 28th July, Ceviche Old St, Martin Morales’ award-winnning Peruvian restaurant, music venue and art gallery in the heart of East London, is throwing open the doors and pouring out the pisco sours for the Peru Independence Day Fiesta. Martin will bring together the diverse flavours of coastal Peru, the mountainous Andes, and cosmopolitan capital Lima for a celebratory feast, with DJs including Martin himself manning the decks late into the evening.
Inspiration: throwing a party on a national celebration day or another local fest if you have a restaurant or club, might cause some excitement around your brand! A small list of fiesta’s from around the world.
SUSHISAMBA | Celebrates Pride with ELLE, GLAMOR, L’HOMO. and VOGUE

In honor of Amsterdam’s annual Pride celebration, SUSHISAMBA is partnering with top fashion magazines ELLE, GLAMOUR, L’HOMO and VOGUE for a bespoke collaboration. The culmination is four custom-curated sushi creations that reflect the iconic design, passion, energy, lifestyle and individuality of each brand while paying homage to Amsterdam’s world-famous city-wide celebration.

Fujita Kanko Opens Halal Japanese restaurant Origami Asakusa in Tokyo

Leading Japanese hospitality company Fujita Kanko Inc. announced that it will open Halal Japanese restaurant Origami on July 25th in Asakusa, one of the most popular tourist destinations in Tokyo. The company intends to attract the increasing Muslim visitors in Japan. According to the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), the number of Muslim visitors to Japan has been rising significantly in recent years. The growth is especially apparent with Malaysian visitors as well as Indonesian visitors, which grew 30% from 2016 to 2017. In a survey conducted before arriving in Japan, a majority of Muslim visitors expressed a keen interest in trying Japanese foods in Japan. Yet Japanese restaurants that cater to halal populations are still extremely limited.

Inspiration | Will Shawarma be the next big thing in food?

We spotted Choco Kebab some years back but the last couple of weeks we got a couple of Facebook posts about this sweet version of shawarma. We also spotted a DIY shawarma in New York City and most recently a vegan shawarma that’s being served at Noma in Copenhagen. Here in the Netherlands we love a great shawarma joint, especially if they serve it with lamb meat. But we never spotted a vegan version before, some inspiration in this article!

This week, amongst others about artichoke toast, it seems to low in calories and high in fiber, vitamins and minerals! So move over avocado toast because artichoke toast sounds just as delicious! A robot will serve pizzas in France and Alain Ducasse wil open a chocolate shop in London. London will try to tackle overtourism with a game you’ll play on your mobile phone, ‘Play London With Mr. Bean’.

Bubbledogs | Celebrates the FIFA World Cup with tournament for hot dogs

Bubbledogs, the gourmet hot dog and Champagne bar in Fitzrovia, will celebrate the FIFA World Cup with their very own hot dog tournament inspired by the teams that make it all the way to the quarter-finals. Co-founder Sandia Chang will create eight wildly different hot dogs, inspired by the flavours of home for each national team, to coincide with the first quarter-final matches in Russia on Friday 6th July. Unfortunately the Germany-inspired hot dog won’t hit the menu, but the Spanish hot dog does sound great as well! Don’t you wonder which hot dog will win?
