Local Taste 010 | A year of culinary walking and tasting at restaurants in Rotterdam
Since June 1, Rotterdam has its own edition of Local Taste. This new glossy city magazine invites food lovers and urban explorers to (re)discover the city through its vibrant culinary scene. The magazine features a wide variety of restaurants, bars, and hidden gems for lunch and brunch. With the magazine in hand, readers can make their way from one tasting experience to the next. Each edition includes ten Taste Coins, which can be redeemed for a tasting at participating venues.

Local Taste 010 is not a traditional food tour
Local Taste is not a traditional food tour with a fixed route, but rather a culinary guide to the city, perfect for personal use, as a gift, or for exploring Rotterdam on a free afternoon. “Rotterdam has an incredible wealth of hospitality venues, yet many people keep returning to the same places,” says founder Thom van den Bossche. “With Local Taste, we want to show just how much there still is to discover in this city.”
Taste your way through Rotterdam
For the first Rotterdam edition, Local Taste has brought together dozens of hospitality venues across the city. Featured locations include 1NUL8, Bar Pepito, Wakame, Mies, Villa Kakelbont, ’t Slaakhuys, TEDS, Nursia, and IJssalon Koen. The selection ranges from well-known restaurants to smaller establishments, and from familiar Rotterdam favourites to places visitors may not yet have discovered. Participants can redeem a Taste Coin for experiences such as a pan con tomate at Bar Pepito, a panzerò prosciutto at Panzerò, a pasta-sharing dish at Nursia, or an ice cream tasting at IJssalon Koen.
“In the magazine, you can read what to expect from each venue,” explains Thom. “Not only where to go, but also who is behind the concept, what kind of place it is, and what tasting experience you will receive with your Taste Coin.”

Explore at your own pace for a full year
The Rotterdam Taste Coins are valid from June 1, 2026, through August 1, 2027, giving participants more than a year to create their own culinary route. There is no need to complete everything in a single afternoon or evening. One day you might redeem a Taste Coin during after-work drinks in the city, while another time you may enjoy a lunch outing or take the magazine along on a free Saturday.
“We deliberately chose not to create a fixed route,” says Thom. “Rotterdam has far too many great venues to tick off in one evening. The fun lies in picking up the magazine whenever you feel like trying something new.”
About Local Taste
Local Taste helps residents, visitors, and food enthusiasts rediscover cities through local hospitality businesses. The concept started in Breda and later expanded to cities including Tilburg, ’s-Hertogenbosch, Utrecht, and Eindhoven. In each city, Local Taste brings together a curated selection of restaurants, bars, and other hospitality venues in a magazine, complemented by Taste Coins that can be redeemed for tasting experiences. The Rotterdam edition of Local Taste will be available from June 1, 2026, through their website for €34.95. This includes ten Taste Coins, each redeemable for a tasting experience at a participating venue.
