Every day, we spot fun and inspiring new concepts. This week, Kamer le Deux that will open by the end of this month on the Maliestraat in The Hague and in Leiden opened an Italian Wine bar, Rabajà Wine & Kitchen on the Morsstraat.

Kamer le Deux will open at the end of August in the former Bistrot Deux la Place location. Guests can look forward to a Mediterranean menu with classic French flavors. Kamer le Deux will sometimes feature live music. A beautiful tribute to the previous owner Marc Cruellas, who made dining at his restaurant special with his French chansons! The wine bar Rabajà has already opened its doors in June. Here, you can enjoy a fine glass of Italian wine paired with treats such as paccheri fritti, olive ascolane, and chuletas de cordero alla plancha.

We wish these entrepreneurs and their teams the best of luck and lots of fun with their new concepts.

Kamer le Deux | Iconic Bistrot Deux la Place in The Hague taken over by Café-Restaurant Kamer

As of August 1, 2025, Wouter von Asmuth has taken over the operation of the iconic Hague establishment Bistrot Deux la Place from the Cruellas family. Chef-host Wouter von Asmuth is moving his café-restaurant Kamer in The Hague to Deux la Place’s location at Maliestraat 9, reopening on August 30, 2025, as Kamer le Deux. In addition to being a Mediterranean bistro with classic French flavours, Kamer le Deux will also feature a cocktail bar.

The now-closed Kamer will relocate within The Hague to the Maliestraat, the intimate venue offers seating for 28 guests, merging the culinary styles of both former restaurants into one concept: a Mediterranean bistro with classic French tastes.

Wouter von Asmuth explains: “Kamer le Deux builds on what we’ve already been doing, but with an even stronger Mediterranean bistro identity and a distinctive twist. Naturally, we continue to make everything in-house, from scratch, letting the ingredients speak for themselves.”

The menu will feature around 25 dishes, including oysters, escargots, forest mushroom ravioli, steak tartare, confit de canard, tournedos Rossini, and desserts such as crème caramel and tarte tatin. Signature vegetarian favourites will return, such as the cauliflower steak with cherry tomato, zucchini, aubergine, and blue cheese, the grilled bread with wild tomato and burrata, and the famous ‘Josper Shrooms’, the mushrooms cooked in the Josper oven. The bar will remain open in the afternoons for drinks, offering a fine selection of draft beers, cocktails, and bites.

“In his bistro, the late Marc Cruellas knew how to make every night a celebration. We’ll continue that tradition, translating his famous musical moments into monthly live performances,” says Wouter. De website van Kamer le Deux is gelinkt in de titel of bekijk hier de aankondiging op Instagram.

Rabajà Wine & Kitchen | A Taste of Italy in the Heart of Leiden

Since June, Leiden has welcomed a new culinary hotspot on the Morsstraat 25: Rabajà Wine & Kitchen. Founded by two Italian friends – chef Domenico Savarese and award-winning sommelier Alessandro Matrone – the wine bar embodies the essence of Italy: passion, tradition, and the joy of good living.

The name Rabajà refers to a renowned wine area in Piedmont, famous for its elegant Barbaresco wines. For Alessandro, a three-time Wine Expert of the Year, Rabajà represents the very soul of wine: character, authenticity, and a deep connection to the land. His wine list features carefully curated bottles from across Italy – from refined Tuscan reds to bold Barolos – all chosen for their origin, personality, and excellent value. He is also a wine merchant.

In the kitchen, Domenico creates Mediterranean dishes inspired by his hometown of Vico Equense on the Amalfi Coast. His international career – from cruise ships to running the successful trattoria Buoni Amici in Hoofddorp – shines through in every plate.

Rabajà offers a warm, welcoming space where exceptional wines and flavourful dishes meet. Whether you’re stopping in for a special glass or a full dinner, according to the owners you’ll taste Italy at their wine bar in the heart of Leiden.
