Every day we spot fun, new concepts. This week, two new restaurants, in Hulst and Amsterdam and a second location for the smashburger concept Drippy’s in Rotterdam. A new meeting place on the Oude Binnenweg! Fine dining restaurant Terroir Grand Cru, opened in Hulst early January. In the heart of the southern region Zeeuws-Vlaanderen, chef Colin de Moor serves the flavours of this region combined with influences from further afield. And on the Amstelveenseweg in Amsterdam, Jahagir’s Kitchen opened in February. The Jahagir brothers serve the rich, diverse flavours of India with a modern twist.

Restaurant Terroir Grand Cru | Fine dining in Hulst, Zeeuws-Vlaanderen

Early January, fine dining restaurant Terroir Grand Cru opened at the Vismarkt 5 in Hulst. In the heart of the southern Dutch region Zeeuws-Vlaanderen, chef Colin de Moor (previously worked at De Kromme Watergang*) serves the flavours of this region combined with carefully chosen influences from further afield. The menu revolves around pure, quality and craftsmanship. Sommelier Toby Thomeas (also previously worked at De Kromme Watergang) is slowly growing the wine list, according to guests’ tastes. And what we like is that they offer a wine arrangement but you’re also able to order these wines by the glass. And they have a separate Bob arrangement.

They serve a 5-course menu with the option to extend it. The menu currently includes hamachi with edamame and ponzu; langoustine with bisque and sereh; sweetbread with celeriac and sherry; lamb with aubergine & za’atar and chocolate with passion fruit & mint. You can also eat vegetarian! The menu changes regularly, inspired by the seasons and the best ingredients of the moment. They also regularly organise special events and specials to offer their guests something unique each time.

They are open from Thursday evening until lunch on Sunday. Friday and Saturday you can have lunch and dinner. Weather permitting on their terrace too, officially opening this Wednesday (April 16)! You can also go there to enjoy drinks with tasty bites.

Drippy’s opens second location in the heart of Rotterdam

After the success of its first location on the Stadhuisplein, smashburger concept Drippy’s is opening a second location in the beating heart of Rotterdam. On the iconic Oude Binnenweg – in the former premises of salad bar SLA – the city is officially swapping its quinoa for crispy smash burgers. In this characteristic building with terrace, Kaj Gorgels, Ad Schaap and Colin Knopper welcome new guests for even more burgers, shakes and the recognisable Drippy’s vibe. ‘It feels surreal that we get to do this within such a short time,’ says Colin Knopper. “In September the idea was born, in November we celebrated the first opening and now we are just opening a second location in Rotterdam already. It feels bizarre and amazing at the same time.”

In terms of menu, Drippy’s stays true to its roots. The popular smashburgers – flattened on the grill for that distinctive crispy crust – remain the hero of the menu. Although a few specials are added. The interior also matches the house style: warm, urban and with its own character. Drippy’s does not want to limit itself to just burgers, but is above all a meeting place. The monthly ‘Breakfast Club’ brings together croissants, smash burgers, unlimited coffee and music is also making its comeback at this new location. And an Amsterdam location is scheduled to open in July!

Jahagir’s Kitchen | New Indian dining experience in Amsterdam

In February of this year, Jahagir’s Kitchen opened on the Amstelveenseweg 85H in Amsterdam. The Jahagir brothers are set out to share their homeland’s rich, diverse flavors with a modern touch to their second home. As we watch the qualification on the Fork, 9,1 out of 10, they are successfully transporting their guests to the heart of India through a dining experience that seamlessly blends traditional flavours with a modern touch.

They use the carefully curated ingredients and recipes that capture the essence of Indian cuisine. As they indicate: “We serve a piece of our home, a part of our story. We strive to earn your trust with every dish. Join us as we celebrate the essence of authenticity, trust, and unwavering quality, and let us take you on a journey that will leave you with a lasting taste of India.”

At this moment on their menu you’ll find: Punjabi Samosa; Masala Papadum Tacos; Mughlai Chicken Cheese Bitterballen (sounds like a great Indian interpretation of our Dutch delicacy); Roti pe Boti Lamb; Indori Paneer Tikka Masala; Chicken Nilgiri Korma; Himalayan Kachmoli Lamb and much more like some special Biryanis. And special Indian desserts like Rasmalai, Rasmalai Cake and Gulab Jamun Cheesecake. We also spotted a Standup Comedy and Dining evening!
