VEN Amsterdam | Business & leisure meet on a large scale in former KPN headquarters
Ven Amsterdam is officially open. The former KPN complex in Sloterdijk is now the new home for the Park Inn by Radisson Amsterdam City West hotel (476 rooms), Holland Casino West and B-aparthotels. In addition, there are several catering concepts such as Burgers’ n Sweets and the Dutch Dagelijks Lekker (Daily Delicious) and the spa concepts of House of Wellness and FloatCenter Amsterdam. GO! Rent a Car Amsterdam complements the existing facilities perfectly. Developer Omnam Investment Group successfully connected the international designer Karim Rashid to the project. This has resulted in an impressive and very distinct location where business, food, sleep, entertainment and relaxation come together in a unique way for the Netherlands.
The former KPN head office has undergone a real transformation. The destination is a unique mix of business and leisure and literally gives color and life to area ‘Amsterdam Sloterdijk’ and the surrounding. David Zisser, founder and CEO of the Omnam Investment Group: “The realization of this project is an absolute milestone for Omnam. Ven Amsterdam is the perfect example where our vision and expertise come together with regard to the transformation of medium-sized to large-scale projects for multiple use. Our ambition to transform this enormous building, which has been empty for years, into an eclectic and colorful all-in-one complex has been fully realized. I think we have fulfilled our promise to give the area Sloterdijk a social and economic injection with this project.”
24/7 ‘business as unusual’
The new complex is the perfect place to ‘stay and play’ and is only a few minutes away from Amsterdam city center and only 10 minutes from Schiphol. The newest Park Inn by Radisson is located in Ven Amsterdam and has a meeting academy, an impressive conference center of 680m² with space for more than 750 guests, 19 rooms for brainstorming, a cinema and an arsenal of network and hot desk rooms. After a hard day’s work, guests from the hotel and B-aparthotels can enjoy one of the 7 restaurants, relax in the spa of House of Wellness and FloatCenter Amsterdam or enjoy themselves in the Holland Casino.
At Ven Amsterdam, international cuisine and local ingredients come together. With a total of 7 restaurants, the culinary possibilities at Ven are just as colorful as the interior itself. At Holland Casino’s Global Dining, guests can enjoy a culinary journey from their dining table through South America, Asia and the Mediterranean. In addition, the foodie can get his or her heart at Burgers’ n Sweets, Dagelijks Lekker (Daily Delicious), House of Pokè, La Guardia, The Den and Tabu, the sky bar that will soon open.
The collaboration with the internationally acclaimed designer Karim Rashid has resulted in an impressive and particularly colorful location, with colors such as fuchsia pink, lavender blue and mint green that adorn the building. Inspired by the curved architecture of the building and the Amsterdam canals, Rashid chose not to process straight lines in his design. The interior is characterized by soft, round shapes: from the flowing design of the hallways to the shower walls in the hotel rooms. The Piazza, the heart of the complex, is Karim’s ode to curves and the color fuchsia.
