Urban hotspot Florentin | Breakfast together with fresh bread

In Israel, you brunch together, at big tables filled with the most delicious mezze, preferably made by mum. And that culture was still missing in Amsterdam, according to Batya Post and Ricardo Chaves.

Batya is half-Israeli and, together with her half-Colombian husband, is opening a place where guests can experience that Middle Eastern brunch culture. The menu includes a full traditional breakfast with eggs, salad, homemade bread and spreads and several brunch dishes, such as shakshuka, schnitzel on challa (Jewish bread) with hummus and matbucha, sabih with eggplant and potatoes. Alongside homemade juices, lemonades and iced teas. One of Batya and Ricardo’s key points is that everything served at Florentin is of high quality. They choose their suppliers with care and the bread (both the Jewish challa and Colombian arepa) is homemade.

Colourful and trendy interior for Florentin

Florentin is named after the hip neighbourhood of the same name in Tel Aviv. Like De Pijp did years ago, this Israeli equivalent is undergoing a transformation. The neighbourhood is booming and has become the place where hip Tel Aviv comes together. The colourful and a bit alternative vibe has been translated to Amsterdam’s Florentin. Colour plays an important role in the brunch shop, with the centrepiece being a beautiful graffiti mural by well-known street artists and brothers Wessel and Stein Koning. Located at number 20 Eerste Sweelinckstraat, Florentin is a cosy establishment that can accommodate around 24 guests. In summer, a large south-facing terrace is added for around 40 extra lucky ones.

Florentin is open seven days a week from 09:00 to 16:00. Want to know more? Then check out their website.
