INK Hotel becomes PINK Hotel again | Theme: ‘Ten Years of Reflection’

INK Hotel Amsterdam is turning pink for the tenth time during Pride Amsterdam. This anniversary edition, titled ‘Ten Years of Reflection’, looks back on a decade of celebrating diversity and inclusion. During Pride Week 2025, the celebratory INK Hotel Amsterdam – part of the MGallery Collection – will once again be fully transformed in pink. Since 2015, diversity and inclusion have been at the heart of the hotel’s identity.

On Thursday, July 24, INK Hotel will once again transform into the PINK Hotel, marking the official kickoff of Pride Amsterdam. Everyone is welcome at the annual opening party to celebrate diversity and inclusion together. This year’s theme, Ten Years of Reflection, offers both a symbolic retrospective and a hopeful look ahead. From July 24 through August 3, 2025, the PINK Hotel will host a special Pride program filled with various activities – also open to those not staying at the hotel. More details can be found on their website – link in the title.

Distillers Hotel brings new life to historic Schiedam distillery

In the former Dirkzwager distillery, a national monument from 1861 located on the corner of Groenweegje and Noordvest in the Dutch city Schiedam, the Distillers Hotel will open in 2026: a boutique hotel with 31 rooms, coffee bar STOOM, and restaurant STOOK. The 19th-century distillery is deeply rooted in Schiedam’s genever history. After more than 150 years of distilling, the impressive building is now preparing for a second life. Once again, spirit is being breathed into this historic part of Schiedam.

The arrival of the Distillers Hotel marks a new phase in the development of the Dutch Distillers District. The former industrial site surrounding the distillery is being redeveloped into a mixed-use urban neighborhood, with space for creativity, greenery, and community. Thanks to its central location and striking appearance, the hotel is set to become a key landmark in this dynamic area. The opening of the Distillers Hotel is scheduled for 2026. Until then, careful work is underway to create a unique place where Schiedam’s rich history is brought to life in the present.

Frittenwerk opened their first store in Münich | Guests could win a Black Card

Friday June 20 (bridge day), Frittenwerk opened their first Frittenwerk in Münich! It is the second Frittenwerk in the Bavaria region and the 45th in Germany. At the entrance to the Pasing Arcaden shopping centre with a view of the Pasing Promenade, they’re making it really nice in the lovingly furnished dining room and on an expansive sun terrace. With lots of greenery and even more wood, their new Frittenwerk is an oasis for shopping queens or a destination for street food lovers with acute fritten ‘chips’ deficit syndrome (FDS). People who signed up for their newsletter on site during the opening week, have the chance to win the first and so far only Frittenwerk Black Card: one year of free food and drink at Frittenwerk.

KYU ignites NYC lunch scene with new to-go concept

KYU NYC, a full-service restaurant known for its signature wood-fired flavors, is aiming to shake up the New York City lunch scene with the launch of KYU Grab & Go.

Here’s an interesting idea: opening a walk-up window at your upscale restaurant to serve sandwich-style versions of your most popular dishes—alongside desserts and custom-crafted drinks. That’s exactly what KYU has done. With pricing designed to appeal to the lunch crowd, KYU Grab & Go brings a more accessible twist to the restaurant’s elevated menu. Want to see more? Buchette del Vino on Times Square | ‘Florentine Wine Window’

Recently opened on Times Square (Broadway between 43rd & 44th Street) in NYC: Buchette del Vino, the city’s first ‘Florentine Wine Window’, created by the team behind The Lambs Club. The concept is inspired by the 16th-century wine windows that were recently brought back into the spotlight by Stanley Tucci. From this charming little window, they serve Italian wine, espresso, gelato, panini, pasta, and more,  all with a nod to Italian tradition. CuliQuiz launches national Top 100 for Dutch hospitality heroes

The CuliQuiz Top 100 is a nationwide audience award created for and by the Dutch hospitality industry. The initiative was developed by CuliQuiz in collaboration with Week van de Horeca (Dutch Hospitality Week). Anyone working in hospitality — from trainees to managers — can be nominated. Since June 16, 2025, everyone has been able to nominate their personal hospitality hero via a short form on the website, including a brief motivation. Nominations close on Sunday, August 31, 2025.

All nominations will be reviewed by an independent panel of experts made up of professionals from education, hospitality, and foodservice. This panel will select the 100 driving forces behind the industry and will also present three thematic awards:

Education Award – for those who excel in mentoring and training (young) professionals

Pioneer Award – for individuals who consistently inspire movement within people, teams, or initiatives

Motivation Award – a public prize for the most inspiring submission

The winners of these categories will be announced on September 22 during a festive ceremony at Gastvrij Rotterdam, marking the official start of Dutch Hospitality Week 2025. More details via the link in the title.

Hospitality Pact launches ‘Discover Hospitality’

Under the banner of the Hospitality Pact, industry associations, businesses, educational institutions, and trade unions in the Netherlands gathered at the Heineken Experience in Amsterdam. The central mission was clear: to recruit and retain talent for the hospitality sector. After all, without people, there is no hospitality.

The Hospitality Pact is a broad collaboration aimed at creating a sustainable and attractive future for the hospitality industry. During the event, the importance of a united approach was strongly emphasized. An inspiring program featuring speakers and industry specialists highlighted both the challenges and opportunities facing the sector. The event also marked the official launch of the new platform Ontdek Hospitality – Discover Hospitality — the central hub of a national digital campaign designed to inspire young adults to pursue a career in hospitality.
