With this week links to articles on, among other things, a big step forward in the USA for lab-grown meat! Upside Foods and Good Meat are cleared for sale there by the US Department of Agriculture!!

The Dyckland FSTVl is held on July 1 and 2 at the orchard at restaurant ‘de Dyck’. Enjoying Dutch products! And Domino’s Pizza is introducing, ‘Domino’s Pinpoint Delivery’ in the USA. Through this system in the app, you can also have a pizza delivered in parks, sports fields and on the beach.

And a few interesting Instagram posts: quite literally a bucket list item in Berlin, where you can buy ramen from Christopher of Berlin food technique and pick it up from a bucket. We also came across the fluffy pancakes by Rookies pancakes in Paris, where there are queues waiting every day. This is also the case at the Truffle Bakery in Tokyo! They sell buns baked with truffle butter, coated with truffle oil and truffle salt. And Restaurant Sophia Loren opens 4th restaurant at the airport of Rome.

Restaurant Aroma Italian Fine Dining in Vaassen has been named ‘Italian Restaurant of the Year’ in the Netherlands by the glossy Italy Magazine. They will also become members of JRE-Jeunes Restaurateurs and the chef will publish a cookbook this fall. And the winner of the Chefs & Shakers competition by Don Papa Rum is: Team Havn and cocktail bar Feijoa. They created a small beer-like cocktail with luxury streetfood.

Lab-grown meat is cleared for sale in the United States

Cultivated meat, also known as lab-grown meat, has been cleared for sale in the United States. Upside Foods and Good Meat, two companies that make what they call ‘cultivated chicken’, said last Wednesday that they have gotten approval from the US Department of Agriculture to start producing their cell-based proteins. A big step forward for the lab-grown meat industry, until now you could only buy lab-grown meat in Singapore. More details in the article at CNN, link in the title. Pinpoint delivery by Domino’s Pizza

Domino’s Pizza Inc. is introducing Domino’s Pinpoint Delivery. A new technology that allows customers to receive a delivery nearly anywhere, including places like parks, baseball fields and beaches, just in time for the start of summer. Customers with the Domino’s app can select Domino’s Pinpoint Delivery, drop a pin on the map and get pizza delivered virtually anywhere! Check out their press release in the link in the title.

Culinary event in the kitchen garden of restaurant de Dyck

On 1 and 2 July 2023, restaurant de Dyck will organise the fourth edition of Dyckland FSTVL! The green Michelin-starred restaurant will prepare honest and authentic dishes. Enjoy 6-course walking dinner or lunch with live music and drinks, while you find yourself among fresh vegetables, herbs and fruits in a 5000 m2 vegetable garden and orchard. Truffle Bakery in Tokyo freshly bakes delicious truffle breads

People flock to Truffle Bakery for its freshly-baked truffle breads. The White Truffle Salt Bread is the most popular item and customers can only get 5 buns each. It is filled with truffle butter which melts during the baking process. It is then brushed with truffle oil and topped with white truffle salt.  Quit literally a bucket list item | The secret ramen in Berlin

If you thought you had seen everything in Berlin, think again. Now you can try your ramen straight from a bucket. Christopher from Berlin food technique prepares his ramen kits, using only high quality ingredients such as Katsuobushi, Kombu, Niboshi, dried Shiitake mushrooms, morels, ceps and more. Try the fluffy pancakes by Rookies pancakes in Paris

Everyone knows them, the delicious wafer-thin French crêpes with red fruit and a chocolate swirl. Yet, Rookies Paris is taking a different approach; the fluffy pancakes. Restaurant Sophia Loren opens 4th restaurant at the airport of Rome

The first three restaurants are located in Bari, Milan and Florence. Now restaurant Sophia Loren opened at the new food court in terminal 1 at the Leonardo da Vinci International Airport in Rome-Fiumicino. Their cuisine is inspired by the Neapolitan tradition and incorporates its most elaborate and particular flavours. Aroma Italian Fine Dining named Italian Restaurant of the Year in the Netherlands

Aroma Italian Fine Dining in Vaassen (the Netherlands) was named Italian Restaurant of the Year last  Monday evening. Ten restaurants were nominated for this annual award by a public and a professional jury. The public award went to Vicio Il Mastro Pastaio in Amsterdam. The Italian Restaurant of the Year was organised for the 11th time by the glossy Italy Magazine from Credits Media. Restaurant Aroma is also the first Italian restaurant to become a member of JRE-Jeunes Restaurateurs and a cookbook by chef Pasquale Carfora will be published in autumn. Winner Chefs & Shakers | Team Havn and Feijoa wins annual on-trade competition Don Papa Rum

Robin Blaauw (Restaurant Havn) and Stefan Sumual (Cocktail bar Feijoa) from the Netherlands have won the grand prize of Don Papa Rum’s Chefs & Shakers trade competition. A trip to the Philippines, the birthplace of this brown rum. The chef had to come up with a Filipino street food dish with ‘mango’ as the main ingredient. And the shaker had to create a cocktail with Don Papa Baroko and Filipino ingredients. Robin & Stefan created luxury street food and a ‘fluitje’ (the Dutch name for a small beer) of Don Papa Rum.
