Elements restaurant at Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort in Aruba renovated by the Dutch design agency FG Stijl
FG Stijl the design agency from Amsterdam created the new design for restaurant Elements at Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort. The close collaboration with experienced Aruban craftsmen resulted in a beautiful collaboration and a leading new design restaurant on the island. In a world where time and space are the ultimate luxury, this is paramount at Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort. This approach is reflected in the restaurant’s new, functional and fascinating design. The large floor-to-ceiling windows allow Aruba’s abundant sunlight to flood in, merging the feeling of indoors and outdoors. Every detail in the design – the materials, textures and colours – is inspired by Aruba’s nature.
Elements is recognised as a pioneer in the Caribbean in ‘farm-to-future’ dining. As such, the restaurant embraces sustainable and local cuisine. Executive Chef Federico Marin and Director of Food & Beverage Nicolas Nemalceff have created a new menu with dishes that all contain a Mediterranean flair. The resort, including this new dining experience, combines relaxed luxury and has been the leader for years as the first and only certified carbon-neutral hotel in the Caribbean. Bucuti is also ranked in Tripadvisor’s Top 25 Hotels in the World every year. More details on their website, linked in the title.
National Week Without Meat & Dairy takes local approach in already their eighth edition
From March 3rd to 9th 2025, the eighth edition of the National Week Without Meat & Dairy, the Dutch campaign to switch to sustainable eating behaviour will take place. This year’s focus is on a local approach. Research conducted by independent research firm Norstat on behalf of the Week Without Meat Foundation shows that the eating behaviour and participation during the campaign varies between different regions in the Netherlands. For example, in the big cities (Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague) only 18% of people eat meat daily, while in the north of the Netherlands (Drenthe, Friesland, Groningen) this rises to 36%. The difference in dairy consumption is also striking: 59% of residents in the north consume dairy daily, compared to 35% in major cities.
Although awareness of the campaign is almost equal throughout the Netherlands (on average 44% of Dutch people know about the campaign), participation in the northern provinces lags significantly behind at 10% compared to the rest of the country, where participation ranges between 19% and 25%. Nevertheless, the majority (68%) of residents in the north say they would like to eat less meat, and a majority supports an ambitious sustainability policy. This shows that there is indeed a willingness to change, if given the right support and inspiration. This year, the campaign will capitalise on this with a positive tone, humour and practical tools! More details, including how to join, can be found on their website, link in title.
