Beersecco brewed with botanicals

Lowlander brews with herbs, spices and fruit, or the so called botanicals – the tastemakers in their broad assortment refreshing (non-alcohol) beer. For this Holiday Season the brewery decided to mix beer and prosecco : brewed with the glera grape (or prosecco grape), Saison-yeast, rosemary and citrus. Wine lovers are seduced to drink beer, and the other way around. Despite the deliciousness, it is also good for the planet: 1% of all sales will go the reforestation projects of Trees for All – extra reason to celebrate!

Hybrid brewing process

One thing is for certain: it had to be the perfect combination of the two drinks, with the correct (taste)balance, according to Rolf van der Sluis, certified beer sommelier and supply chain manager at Lowlander. ‘The biggest challenge was the conservation of the grape aromas. That’s why we have chosen for a hybrid brewing method’. Which means that the beer and prosecco were fermented separately and not mixed until lagering (the resting process), along with lemon peel and rosemary, with no added sugars.

That brewing process has paid off: Lowlander Beersecco is a sparkling (lots of bubbles) with a gentle grape aroma of prosecco, the bitter-sweetness of beer and ends with the herbal tones of rosemary and citrus in the back of the throat.

Beersecco pairing

The holiday fever can begin and the beer after wine myth is no more. From now on you can drink both simultaneously! Lowlander Beersecco is perfect as aperitif on his own or in paring with small bites: such as lemon-ricotta bruschetta, parmesan cheese-rosemary-cookies or chicken wings marinated in lemon and rosemary. The perfect combination of freshness, herbs and a pinch of fattiness.

The Lowlander Beersecco bottle

Lowlander Beersecco is bottled in a festive champagne bottle of 75CL, decorated with an iconic lable from the Lowland Plimsoll brand – that illustrates the water levels of the sea. Lowlander Beersecco is available in their webshop and at the following selling points: HEMA, Hoogvliet, Albert Heijn Jan Linders, Gall & Gall and Flink.
