Each tea is different; black tea, for example, requires high temperatures to really bring out its flavors. Preparing green tea with such high temperatures can actually cause astringent.

The average coffee machine is not set up for this at all. Of course the type of tea is important, but the variations go further, as a cup of tea can also be brewed in different ways. For example, Tea Public does this with pure tea bellow or with ‘stone-ground’ where the tea is ground like coffee. This ‘stone-ground’ or tea powder is also pressed in the tea espresso machine and brewed like coffee bean powder. The first shot is a bit sweeter and has CO² bubbles from the hot water which gives a similar effect to an espresso. The second shot gives off a bit more bitter tannin which completes the flavor. Matcha tea, a powdered green tea, can also be used to brew a perfect matcha espresso, which you can try at Tea Public.
These shots of tea can be drunk pure, but the tea baristas at Tea Public can also make you a Matcha latte, for example. The foamed milk is created into latte art. But with these espresso shots the variations are endless, because they also offer most tea’s as Iced Tea. Besides the tea variations, Tea Public also serves healthy dishes such as Pearl Barley Green Salad, Super Green wraps and Berry Chia Pudding.
