Stayokay expands

With the addition of the location in Groningen, Stayokay Hostels, the largest hostel chain in the Netherlands, is expanding its network in the north of the country. The expansion is part of the strategy to achieve growth in sustainable, affordable accommodation, both through acquisitions of existing hotel and hostel operations and through the redevelopment of characteristic buildings with a new social purpose.

Sustainable and accessible accommodation

The building was purchased by NJHC management foundation. Sustainability will play a central role in the renovation of the former National Archives, which date back to 1922. Joris van Nistelrooij, director of NJHC: “The challenge lies in creating a sustainable hostel while preserving the rich history and structure of the building.” Stayokay strives to make the hostel not only comfortable and affordable, but also future-proof and socially engaged.
