‘Rond de Tafel’ in the Gashouder Amsterdam | the new dining in the social distancing way

From the 1^st of July until the 31^st of August, the Gashouder on the Westergas will be transformed into the largest one and a half meter restaurant in the Netherlands, called ‘De Ronde Tafel’ (the round table). A concept in which various top chefs temporarily move their kitchen and spoil and surprise 100 guests with an exclusive 5-course menu accompanied by top-quality wines, every night. Read on to see of which 5 top chefs you can enjoy a 5-course dinner!

It is a collaboration of Les Patrons Cuisiniers, which is also partly responsible for the selection of the guests, Westergas and Famous Flavours. It is a great idea to combine the cooking skills of top chefs with the space of the Gashouder! We publish this article in English as well, as we believe the collaboration between the event industry and the restaurants industry is great. BUNK Amsterdam | Receives their first guests

The last couple of months, Covid-19 created a lot of uncertainty but finally BUNK Amsterdam officially opens its doors to hotel guests. After the enormous renovation of the former Sint-Rita church in the north of Amsterdam, the monumental building offers space for 300 guests. BUNK is a hotel with hostel prices and a hostel with the quality and service of a hotel.

Last Tuesday, the 3^rd of March, I was present at a dinner at the BUNK hotel. You are already impressed upon arrival by the transformation of this large church into a hotel. Great to see the BUNK pods but also the 107 compact rooms in the belly of the church, a separate concept. From April onwards you can and go sleep there, I believe this is a special and pleasant experience in Amsterdam. General Manager Hermann Spatt personally welcomed the first guests of nhow Amsterdam RAI on January 10, 2020. It is the second nhow hotel to be opened in the Netherlands. nhow Amsterdam RAI is located between the RAI Convention Centre and the A10 highway, making it attractive for organizers, exhibitors and visitors to national and international exhibition and conference markets. Schiphol Airport is a ten minute drive by car or train and the tram will take you to Dam Square within six minutes. The building was designed by the architectural firm OMA. nhow is the lifestyle brand of NH Hotel Group and the hotel in Amsterdam has 650 hotel rooms and nine multifunctional event rooms on the 23rd floor.

We wrote a couple of articles about YOTEL and this brand is expanding in a fast pace, next year they will open their first YOTELPAD, YOTEL’s name for condo, which will open in Park City (ski resort in Utah), followed by Mammoth (2021, ski resort in California) and Miami (2021). These pads will be located in city centre and resort locations.  Guests will be welcomed in private PADs which are the epitome of efficiency.

New, healthy and sustainable restaurant concept for IKEA launched in Amsterdam

IKEA Amsterdam has opened its completely renovated restaurant last week. It is the first IKEA store in the world to implement the new concept: a different set-up and new dishes should inspire customers even more to eat healthier and more sustainable food. For example, there are now various stations with, among other dishes, fresh smoothies and sandwiches. IKEA also serves dishes such as a salad with vegetarian balls. In the new format there is more room for contact between customers and employees of the IKEA restaurants as the dishes are prepared on the spot.

We’re curious whether dishes from the ‘IKEA SPACE10 Lab’ will be on the menu! We wrote about this initiative at the beginning of 2018, in which they told that they also investigated the possibilities of alternative ingredients such as algae and insects.

Neapolitan pizza conquers (Hilton) Amsterdam

Hilton Amsterdam introduces exclusive Neapolitan pizza in combination with champagne. The classic among pizzas is put on the menu of their Half Moon Lounge. The contemporary combination with bubbles gives the original simple street food from Naples a gastronomic touch. Special pizza & champagne variations are served until 14^th of November 2019 for 20 euros per person, including a glass of prosecco.

The Japanese fondue restaurant PakuPaku opened in Amsterdam

Earlier this year we wrote about PakuPaku, the first Japanese fondue (ShabuShabu) restaurant in Amsterdam. End of August 2019, PakuPaku opened its doors at Beukenplein 3 Amsterdam. Now, after a few weeks of test running, they’re organizing an opening drink for local residents and other people who are interested on the 6th of October. A fun way to get to know the ladies and their concept!

They will also start their ‘language events’ (events where expats and speakers of different languages can practise their Dutch language skills in an relaxed atmosphere) and once a week they have a ‘joint-table’.
