Is Poké the new sushi?

You’re probably not familiar with the name ‘Poké’. Or you might think of a Pokémon. But it’s actually a Hawaiian dish, which keeps increasing its popularity at the West Coast of America. This results in more and more Pokerias, bars where you can eat Poké. In Rotterdam recently opened a Poké Bowl restaurant.

Good news for the vegetarians! Goldfinch Brasserie serves a vegetarian menu of 7 courses in the Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam on Friday the 30st of September, Saturday the first of October and Sunday the second of October.

Toasteroid: writing on toast

Everybody knows the saying: Have breakfast like a king, lunch as a prince and dine as a beggar. No meal is more important that your breakfast, reason enough to make it as fun as possible. The Toasteroid, a smart, app-controlled toaster will imprint text and images onto bread. We think it might be a great gimmick for hotels at their breakfast buffet!
Unique cutlery for your restaurant

Over the years chefs have distinguished themselves with the presentation of their dishes at the most beautiful plates and in cups. We’ve seen the craziest and most creative plates pass by. Now in addition to the creative set of plates, we will also be able to choose from the unique collection of cutlery of the ‘Steinbeisser Collection’. This unique cutlery is developed by 35 different International artists. It took them 4 years to design and develop this collection.

Great examples of how to use the Olympic Games in your benefit

We have seen quite a few examples of restaurants, hotels and leisure centres using the Olympics in their benefit. The Olympic Experience on the beach of Scheveningen is a great example. As well as storytelling in advertisings! One of the best is probably the Olympic anthem of Samsung.

Citrus caviar from Finger Limes

In 2010 we spotted Finger Limes for the first time and wrote about it. But we never saw an opportunity to taste the Finger Lime, which originates in Australia. Although we came up with great ideas to combine these citrus caviar with for example a Gin & Tonic, oysters, in fruity desserts, as garnish at hors d’oeuvres or in salad dressing. But still we hardly spot them in Europe! Well at least we know this is going to change because they are now cultivated outside Australia as well. We spotted them in the USA and in Italy.
