At Horecatrends we spot a lot of national and international trends on a daily basis. This week amongst others a champagne vending machine in Las Vegas and in Japan opened a pop-up mayonnaise restaurant. Starbucks has announced their plans for an European Starbucks Roastery in Milan.

Tunes Bar | Around the world in 11 cocktails

This week, the first edition of the Amsterdam Cocktail Week started and a ‘must see’ is the Tunes Bar at the Conservatorium Hotel. Last week they launched Tunes Around The World, a tantalizing trip around the world in eleven exciting cocktail & foodpairings. The plans from Bar Manager Tim Hoevenagel and Chef Schilo van Coevorden are ambitious: Tunes should be a destination bar for all cocktails.
Dubai launches a self-flying drone taxi service

In Dubai, from this summer onwards it’s possible to experience a self-flying taxi. Passengers can select a destination and the ‘Ehang184’ drone will transport you to this destination. This new type of transportation should reduce the number of accidents on roads and move passengers faster from destination A to B.
House of Bols | A tribute to the cocktail

Plopr | The opener with a ‘pop’ sound

Don’t you love that ‘popping’ sound when a bottle of beer or a bottle of champagne gets uncorked? With the Plopr, you will hear this ‘plop’ every time. The Plopr can be used for every bottle with a crown cap. The project is on Kickstarter as from this week to crowdfund money to produce the first copies.
De Bajes | Street Art Restaurant

The first Street Art restaurant opened this week in the Netherlands and is called ‘De Bajes’, which means ‘The Jail’. After to Hong Kong and New York it’s now also possible in the Netherlands to eat and drink between painted walls by world’s most famous street art artists. The restaurant is located on the Utrechtsestraat in Amsterdam.
McDonald’s reinvented the shake experience with a new straw

Alibi Hostel | Sleeping in a prison

Ever wanted to experience what it’s like to sleep a night in prison? It’s now possible in Leeuwarden. Since the beginning of this year, a hostel opened in former prison ‘De Blokhuispoort’. In order to find the perfect balance of keeping the original interior but still providing a comfortable and fun stay, several changes had to be made.
British Airways i360 | Impressive observation tower

The world’s tallest moving observation tower opened last year in Brighton, England. The tower is called British Airways i360, is 138 metres high and has a breath-taking view over Brighton and the beautiful south coast. Marks Barfield Architects, creators of the London Eye conceived and designed the tower.
