The Arctic SnowHotel & Glass Igloos in Finland will open their door again this year until March 31. The SnowHotel is carved each year to be different in appearance. The hotel’s latest attraction is a sauna that, apart from the wooden lats for punters to sit on, has a structure entirely made from snow.

The ‘Snow Sauna’

The 1,5 meter thick walls of the ‘snow sauna’ melt when the stove is in use, losing around 3-5mm with each session and releasing more steam in the room. Must be a special sauna experience, cold walls and feet and a hot surrounding!

As the sauna is melted, they have to build another one. Starting a new cycle of creating a special sauna experience! It’s the first time in the 10 years that the SnowHotel is open that the snow sauna is build! For those who prefer a ‘regular ‘sauna, there is one in the garden of the hotel as well. It seems that the snow saunas create the same health benefits as a steam room. The hotel also boasts an outdoor Jacuzzi from which you can apparently sit back and enjoy the Northern Lights. The Aurora Borealis must be beautiful at this spot, check out this video.

About the Arctic SnowHotel & Glass Igloos

The SnowHotel sleeps 70 guests and is one of the largest in the Nordic region. The walls and furniture surfaces of the unique rooms are decorated with ice art and illuminated artwork. The room temperature is 0–5C°, but using the sleeping bags intended for extreme conditions combined with reindeer furs, you can be sure you will stay in warmth and comfort. On the shores of the lake the moonlight, stars and Northern Lights illuminate the silent Finnish nature.
