Zuidas Amsterdam pop-up store

12-2-2014

The municipality of Amsterdam appointed four locations for pop-up stores at the ‘Zuidas’, near Amsterdam Zuid train station. From 1 May onwards the locations are available to unique concepts that complement the existing offer for six months. All competitors, with both food as well as non-food concepts, can send in their plans before 5 March 2014. The four winners will be announced on 13 March. Perhaps the area will be enriched with a test sleep facility, a tasting area or a collaboration between local entrepreneurs like we’ve seen in the West of Amsterdam.

We spot fun and inspiring new concepts every day. This week: Pizza bar Rosso in Amsterdam on the Zuidas, wine bar De 3 Wijntjes in Roosendaal, and Bagels & Beans in the Schunck building in Heerlen.

On George Gershwinlaan, the refined Pizza bar Rosso recently opened its doors. From lunch onwards, you can enjoy dishes like the ‘Pan Rosso’, Sicilian red prawns, a classic Italian aperitivo with an aged Negroni, and of course, unique pizzas. The concept is the first venture by new hospitality group The Ugly Duckling. In Roosendaal, wine bar De 3 Wijntjes opened in the former café De 3 Weesgegroetjes – known locally as “the 3Ws.” Every Friday and Saturday, owners Rick and Sebastiaan welcome guests for wines by the glass paired with refined bar bites. And in Heerlen, the Bagels & Beans location on the Bongerd in the Schunck building has a new owner: Jasper! What once started with a hot chocolate as a guest, has now turned into a new chapter as the official bagel boss.

We wish these entrepreneurs and their teams lots of fun and success with their concepts.

After successful establishments at Market 27 and Market 33, two urban food stations in Amsterdam, Granelli is now also serving its artisanal Italian dishes in the lively Foodhall Scheveningen. ‘Bij Daaf & Maan’ is a cosy coffee and lunch shop in a characteristic corner building on the Nieuwe Rijn in Leiden, where you can enjoy creative coffees, fresh tea and local sweets. And late last year, Café de Gaper opened at Rapenburg 97 in Leiden. And there they are making guests happy with delicious food, fine wines, affordable and a casual ambiance.

We wish these entrepreneurs and their teams a lot of fun and success with their concepts. More information below!
