Caviar continues to grow in popularity and is increasingly appearing in surprising combinations. Back in April 2023, we wrote about caviar ‘bumps’, but now we’re seeing pairings with pizza and even desserts — as recently spotted in the United States. A striking sweet-and-salty combination! Caviar bumps have now gained popularity in Europe too, but would we see caviar appear in desserts here as well? That seemed uncertain, until we discovered a similar dessert at restaurant R21 in Amsterdam. Their creation, a combination of Asetra caviar with crème fraîche ice cream and feuilletine, sounds absolutely delicious!

Eberhardjes are looking for ‘Lieve Amsterdammers’

The Eberhardjes stand for positivity and connection and they’re looking for ‘Lieve Amsterdammers’ (kind citizens of Amsterdam). During Amsterdam’s 750 anniversary year, anyone can nominate a kind fellow citizen through the Eberhardjes website. These people will be honoured in an online Hall of Fame with beautiful portraits.

Entrepreneurs can support the campaign by becoming a pick-up location and displaying promotional materials at their location.

Hans im Glück opens first Dutch restaurant on the Rembrandtplein in Amsterdam

On Thursday April 17, the first Dutch location of the ‘Better Burger’ chain, Hans im Glück, will open on the bustling Rembrandtplein in Amsterdam. This full-service hospitality brand, which was founded in Munich in 2010, now has 83 restaurants in Germany, 10 in Switzerland and two in Austria. About three-quarters of Hans im Glück’s locations are run by franchisees and franchise opportunities are also coming up in the Netherlands. At this concept, guests can enjoy premium burgers and delicious food, special drinks and good company, all until after midnight.

In the Netherlands we have some hotels with trees decorated by artists, like the Conservatorium Hotel and the Pulitzer hotel. But we spotted more inspiration like the Wish Tree of Fauchon l’Hôtel Paris, the afternoon tea’s at Le Meurice in Paris and their Bûches de Noël (Yule Logs) by Frederic Grolet. And the Afternoon Tea at the Great Scotland Yard hotel looks very Christmassy! Some great examples by luxury hotels. Who knows some of it might inspire you!

In love as the brewery is with its city, to which it has been connected for 40 years, it exaggerated considerably with Mokum’s favorite beer. “With 7.50% alcohol and extra additions of the ingredients that make IJwit so characteristic, this is a beer that has just a little too much of everything, because that’s what we love in Amsterdam.”
